This is the 2nd time its been broken into and its was on the driveway. No forced entry, alarm didnt go off and they took sat nav and put a cigarrette burn in the seat.

They did exactly the same as last time, they must have the scanner and keys. They obviously couldnt get into the boot.

Im so tempted to get rid of it now, its been nothing but trouble

And to all those who wonder where all the sport bumpers on ebay come from, go to hampstead, so many of the 3 series are missing the bumpers, must be really easy to take off too.

I would sell it or get it de-locked and after marker alarm fitted, there is a key kit you can buy that has the parts that allow the user to make up keys to get into any BMW. Models post 2006 ish need a laptop for the combinations however it still works. Sounds like they have taken a note of where the car is and came back to check if there is anything worth while init.

There was a video floating about of it and its scary how easily its done.

Move house.

I'll never understand why you always say this Fox. You said it when someone attempted to break into my old car.

If you mean it in jest then I apologise, but if not... seriously, WTF?!?!

It's only half in jest. He lives in an area where no matter what he does, somebody breaks into his car. Surely this is not a good environment?

Yeah I can agree with that but for most people I'm sure, just upping sticks and moving house at the drop of a hat doesn't happen.

Even if he moves somewhere else, what's to say some scrote isn't going to try exactly the same thing again? It's a losing battle against car theives. If someone somewhere wants something, they'll have it.

Not just that, judging an area as a whole because his car has been broken into twice or whatever is a little extreme, they hunt around for cars they want to break into at the end of the day, this could happen anyplace its not simply some little jumped up kids.

To be fair to him, my mothers car got stolen after the house got broken into for the keys, thats on top of the house getting broken into a further 3 times in the last few years.

As you know, shiplake is hardly a nasty area, the theives travel to the area as they know there is money there :(

Can you get it recoded by BMW? Would that help?

Nope, if this is what I think it is then BMW made up a secure key system that should have thousands or millions of key combinations. However it was poorly designed so that there is effectively only a few dozen key combinations. IE You can get a skeleton key kit that you can quickly use to find the correct key.

It already is a good area Hampstead! I will be moving house but I have a feeling it will be worse not better as its in the good part where I have seen bmw bumpers and even mirrors removed!. At least where I am they have security vans patrolling although they dont do anything.

It just stinks of cigarette smoke now so they must have been in there a while.

Since this is the 2nd time I know its going to keep on hapenning, the camera didnt stop them either.

If I get the lock cover they will still try and probably damage the door.

where in hampstead, I used to live in West Hampstead and never had issues on my road
Park outside george michaels, Michael Winner or even Geri Halliwell sure they have good security
