Due to Government cutbacks, autumn's been cancelled in Fleetwood and we've jumped straight to winter :D

It's gone reet cold in a short space of time and the Aygo's ready for a good clean.

So...

Which is a good, durable wax? Which one's are better for two or three coats? I live very near the sea so protecting from the salt in the air all year round's a good idea, but with winter and gritty roads and soggy slush all on their way, thought I'd ask a few opinions.

I prefer to wash my car once every 2-3 months but to give it a REALLY good clean/wax/polish.

I currently use the usual washmitt, Gold Class shampoo (almost out of that, anyone else prefer others?), microfibre towels, Autoglym Super Resin polish then NXT wax.

Cheers
:)

You want to get yourself a tin of Collinite. For long lasting winter protection it's the nuts.

Very easy to apply.

He speaketh the truth, I have 915, I think most on here have 476.

Either way its the best wax i've used and the longest lasting.

I'm planning to give mine a clay, polish and two coats of 915 wax in the next couple of weeks.

Might even try some of Meguiars Scratch X to get rid of some light swirls... anyone used it?

There goes my Sunday!

If you mean general swirl marks all over the car then unless you're Arnold Schwarzenegger and have a few days to kill don't bother - you really need a machine polisher to tackle swirls.

Very very light swirls and I'm close to Arnie ;)

To be honest will probably just use SRP again.

915 is meant to be better on darker paints but it's just as durable as 476 from what i've read.

915 is harder to use too.

You’ll get up to 6 months durability from Collinite, but you’ll get 12 months from TurtleWax Gloss-Guard, Duragloss and maybe Zaino too. I've personally achieved 18 months from Gloss-Guard.

well according to the AutoExpress test, the turtle stuff was a doddle to put on, lasted well past the 8 week test and only costs a tenner a go. that makes it cheap, easy and effective

the harley stuff does sound effective but is it cheap/easy to use as well?

my car should be coming home tomorrow after having paint done... ive got a feeling i wont even be allowed to polish/wax/detail the paint for a couple weeks etc until its all dried properly
