New Dawn of War Expansion Announced

Dont get me wrong, i love the game, i just think the engine is like what, 4-5 years old now and its about time they focused on Dawn of War 2 maybe on the new Essence Engine, instead of trying to drain as much money out of expansions :/

It won't be a engine limitation causing the max amount of units.
Its just the way the game is played. There are mods that make it much higher, I imagine its possible to completely remove it, although that will through balance out of the window.

wth ? :/ I hope it will be on a new engine if this is true cause the current one is well past it. :/

i think the current engine still looks fantastic. I hope this is the last expansion and they start working on DoW 2 afterwards though. It'd be nice to have a new engine with bikes and tyranids.

the game is only 3 years old.

Love this game, will definatly get the expansion.

Offtopic slightly: Quick question.
I recently got this new laptop, does anyone know if this game supports widescreen mode? (I mean the original and expansions) Or do you have to force it to run widescreen through the shortcut?

Native widescreen support came with Dark Crusade. before that it was a hack, or if you couldn't be bothered - a bit of a stretch. ;)

Doesn't the current engine also limit the number of troops/tanks/etc on the map at any one time? This is one of the reasons given for no Tyranids expansion.

Idd, the Tyranids are known to have massive armies of low points-per-unit units. They are also imune to fear and dont have moral right?

As far as I remember they have a hive mind where they are immune as long as they have a large unit around them somewhere, but they would have to be zerg like swarms if they were to be acurately modelled in game, I havent kept up to date with this sort of thing for years though, but I loves the backstory lots.

The tyranids absorb dna from the creatures they encounter. So the genestealers incoroporated space marine dna i believe, the zoanathrope incorporated eldar dna, making it an effective psyker.

the tyranids need to be near 'synapse' creatures, or else they go to instinctive behavior, all but lictors and genestealers, would love to see tyranids in DOW :)

Just hope it's a proper story expansion like Winter Assault, but better. Dark Crusade really just felt like playing skirmishs and felt it just had a story thrown in there for the sake of it.

Im a big fan of this game. I know they would never do it, but wouldnt it be awesome if they snuck in some of the High Commanders like Dante, Calgar etc..

Big fan of DoW as well. Although i felt the Dark Crusade expansion's singleplayer was very weak. I only got half way through it and just got a bit bored of it because there wasn't really much of a storyline too it...nor did i see much of an incentive to actually continue.
