Tuniq Tower install pics+results

Five stars mate.

I've been looking at the same Case/Mobo/HS+Fan combo but really wanted to see one in the flesh. Thanks for taking the time to post this up!

What version of the PC7 do you have. Its got a 120mm fan at the back?

Yep:)

The fan from the Tuniq will push the air straight onto it and it will get sucked right out the back :)

Few pics.

Just remember, plug everything in that goes under/around the cpu before you put the fan in, otherwise you are going to be kicking yourself as it gets so arkward getting your fingers in as its so big!

Theres an example, thers no way you can get your hand down there to tighen the screws or plug anything in!

And on a last note, when you slide the fan into the middle, theres 4 screws that need screwing on the top to fix it into place, make sure you screw these in really tight otherwise the fan makes a loud nasty noise, like a loose rattling of the fan.

Have you used the fan supplied with the TT? How noisy is it?

How noisy are the PC7 Fans?

The case fans arn't noisey, the fan in the Tuniq is more noisy than the intel stock fan. Well i notice it anyway.

It's just a case of unscrewing it and putting your own in anyway.

Anyone know a really quiet decent fan to replace it with? :)

Going to put up some pics of my new tower tomorrow, in the meantime here's a pic of my current set up (Arctic Freezer Pro 7):

Hi mate,

yea i ordered whole new rig from here this morning,

gonna be my first build, roll on tommorrow....excited,scared and skint :D

Take your time, the first build is always a kind of an exciting rush to get it all finished asap so you can test it.

Read the motherboard book to see where the case power pin goes, these are very fiddly i would suggest you get them in as soon as you can, done leave them to last. Make sure thats all sorted properly otherwise you will be excited, miss it and press the power button on your case and nothing will happen. Pure panic will set in! ;)

Just a little tip as thats what happend to me on my first build lol

I finished installing my new Tuniq Tower earlier this evening. The actual installation of the heatsink to the CPU was pretty straightforward. However given that I had to remove my motherboard, remove old heatsink (Freezer 7 Pro), mount new heatsink, then try and get all the cables, etc plugged in before screwing the motherboard back down I'd say that total installation was ca. 3hrs.

The fan itself seems to be slightly noiser than the Freezer 7 Pro at lowest possible speed (ca. 1150rpm) although that may be my imagination. Both load and idle temps @ stock have dropped by around 4 deg. I imagine this will drop a few degrees more after AS5 has had a chance to bed itself in.

I also have tuniq tower with pc7, although i have my rear fan blowing towards the cpu heatsink and have the fan in tt to blow inside the case. I have a 80mm exhaust fan at the top to get rid of hot air.

What CPU/Speed and temps are you getting?

I have the E4300 running at 3.1Ghz with 1.525V through it. And it was 25C to Tjunction last time I ran orthos small ftt which was a few days ago, so it must have been 75C according to core temp 0.95, quite high but with 1.525V it's expected.

You sure that wont run 3.1 with a lower voltage?

I doubt theres a lot of difference between 3.0 and 3.1? Im sure you could run 3.0 with a lower voltage to keep temperature down.

I think it will run 3.1Ghz quite happily with "just" 1.5V and probably 1.45V for 3Ghz. So yeah I could lower it to 3ghz I suppose but I like to squeeze every last drop from my CPU. I'll orthos it again tonight with 1.5V and see what happens.

I think it's down to the mobo having poor VRM so it will probably go higher with a better mobo.

Mine ran fine at 3.2 1.45v i didn't try to push it higher at all, but i've lowered it to 3.0 due to temps. I don't like it higher than 70 really.

I also need this cpu to last a while so i don't wanna fry it ;)

May try 3.2 again now paste has had a while to do its job. But i doubt there will be much difference from 3.0 to 3.2ghz really.

Would you keep yours at 3.1 knowing it can reach 75c?
