Can't clock 2900XT's past 800mhz on the core?

Are you using 2x6 pin connectors?

For everyone else, I hit that magical spot (850/950) and managed a score 12228 in 3DMark 06. I'm going to loop it and see how far I get.

I've turned my PCI-E Frequency to 120 (max) and PCI-E Voltage to 1.7V. What are the downsides to this?

You can corrupt files being transfered to and from your windows partition as far I can understand it.

Iv left mine at 105 and with 855/1005 mhz on core/mem. Fully stable at these speeds :)

Schnippzle, how do you check to see if yours runs stable?

Run whatever game of choice at the settings I want it at. If it works, it works :p

WiC, Fear, HL2, CoH, C&C3....they will all do the job ;) Usually though I just run 3DMark06 to start off with, if it isnt stable in that I clock it down.

You lucky *insert bad words*. So far I've got 842/950 running 3DMark in a loop 3 times, I haven't tested further. No games have crashed yet, guess I'll have to do a little more testing.

How long would you say I need to loop for in 3DMark so that it's considered 'stable'?

Until it crashes . If 3dmark or any game would crash due to my overclock on my gfx card then that would compute to me as a failure and I would drop the speed. I don't like the idea of different overclocks for different games.

You could do that and it would be ok for stability testing but if it was my decision then I'd be gaming instead and if stability problems occur then I'd back down. More fun this way but it's personal preference.

I think gaming is the best all round stability test as all your components are getting utilized and generating the heat needed to see how your system can cope.

Well I'm back and I'm just going to mention this applies to my Sapphire 2900XT, not the HIS which is currently owned by my twin brother.

My Sapphire will clock to 853/950, but only under 65c. If the card get's hotter than 65c it will crash with a checkered screen, Xbox style. Is that normal? To be honest I'm quite happy if that is the reason because it means I just need some 3rd party cooling.

I ran all graphics tests in 3DMark 5 times which amounts to around 30 minutes of testing. I've been doing tests on it for around 2 days and I've found with the fan control set to auto the card will just drown itself in heat and die. I then decided to stick the fan to 100% (I know what's wrong with me? It's LOUD!), it didn't crash or stutter and ran great.

I've seen one cooler than OcUK sells, is that the only available cooler for this card?
