Scrap value of 9ct gold ?

Have a couple of old pieces to shift, now they are probably only worth scrap value but I can't find an acurate idea of scrap value

one place says they pay £2.95 a gram but another site ( which doesn't buy ) refers to £4.40 a gram

anyone have any ideas ?

also if an item was sold as X ounces is that normal ounces ( 28g ) or Troy ounces ( 32g )

hallmarked 9ct gold - goldline will give you £4.17 per gram.

any gold sold in ounces would be troy ounces, unless the person selling it is a moron.

Surely, gold is gold, regardless of scrap or not? You can melt it down fairly easily. I would have thought that gold ounces would be troy ounces. Current market bid rate is $742.65 / oz, which is about £11 per gram (I think...)

scrap value is a term used for what will be melted down like broken jewlery

spot gold is £365 per troy oz (31.1g), so £11.73 per gram

9ct is 37.5% so £4.40 per gram.

If you're offered £4.17 per gram that's 95% of spot so is about the best you could expect outside of ebay.

Better off going finding some copper or lead and trading that in as scrap

well seeing as theyve got to make a profit they will give you 3 quid a gram for 9carrot gold .dunno where you are in notts but go to victoria center and go to the glass shop in middle(jewelers ) owned by a women called mandy.shes very nice and will give you good price.a lot better than most.a lot of people i know either deal in gold or are scrap men(dont laugh)they get daily reports of gold prices and no probably more than you think.
