Hiya,

I found information on how to get free GPRS on another forum and I tried it and I was like "ooooh this is mint"

But it turned out it wasn' free at all LOL I cained all my monthly allowance, and then used 6 quid of credit lol

But, I liked the GPRS and now I'm hooked :)

So.... how can I get the cheapest unlimited GPRS??

Don't mind what network.

At the moment I'm on O2 an Vodafone, both PAYG

Phone is XDA Mini S

Cheers,

G

not trying to be rude but 1 meg a month is nothing, you can go through that in an how browing normal webpages. The cheapest GPRS/3G on contract would be 3's X-series or T-mobile's Web n Walk and the cheapest on PayG would be T-mobile WnW as they charge £1 for the whole day of access but wont charge you extra if you go past your allowance (if you keep going over it you will get your speed limited)

£1 per day? that's £30 a month or thereabouts would I not be better on contract?

does anyone know how much t mobile is on contract?

also do t mobile have shops I could just go to? or is it all online or something? never come across it before, but then I've never looked.

cheers,

G

I'm on T-mobile Flex25+web & walk , works out at £32.30 a month. It gives me 300 minutes & 1 Gb of download.

Ps . I upgraded from GPRS / XDA miniS to a HSDPA / Vario II , it was well worth £80 for the phone :)

Mobile broadband subject to HSDPA service availability.

what does this mean?

is a vario II much better than my phone? if so what is better about it?

I have no idea what HSDPA is.

Cheers,

G

GPRS is about as fast as 56k, HSDPA is anywhere from 1.8 to 14.4Mbit/sec which is faster than most broadband connections. If you're gonna play with HSDPA then you're gonna wanna be on an unlimited plan, else you'll end up paying a lot.

Have you tried using MSN on this tarrif?

also does the Vario II have GPS built in? I noticed they offer it with co-pilot included, but they don't mention anything about needing a bluetooth gps to get it to work.

O2 unlimited data is £45 per month, but from the 1st of October are offering a "Unlimited" package (capped at 200MB) for £7.50 a month.

Three is probably the cheapest unlimited data (Capped at 2GB, like T-Mobile) offering it for £5 a month.

The Vario II is twice as fast as the Mini S and has 3G (HSDPA) so browsing/downloading is pretty much like at home.

MSN works fine, The Vario II doesn't have GPS built in (the Vario III does)

I dont think 200mb is very much really, will a 3 sim work in an XDA Mini S??

Any chance of a link for that 5 quid deal?

Just that it says on the t mobile site that they dont allow instant messaging, or connecting to a laptop as a modem.

You're not meant to ........

But I use MSN and it works as a modem plugged into my laptop ;)

I would guess that as long as you don't go over the 1Gb allowance you'll not have any problems from T-mobile :)

Nope , I tried the SIM from a '3' shops managers phone in mine (you wouldn't get 3G rates anyway)

sounds good :)

I reckon a gig might be enough. do you ever get close to using it all?

I would like to be permanently signed into msn, get tomtom traffic updates and surf the forums etc etc.

spoke to O2 and they said they would be offering unlimited from the end of next month, but if that's only 200mb then that's turd compared to a gig.

cheers,

I can easily chew through 100meg of data on lunch breaks watching youtube/veoh videos and using msn on my TyTn2/Vario3 so I went for the WnW Plus for the extra bandwidth and being able to use my phone as a modem
