New toy with pics

SJ413 jx as he just told me on the phone.

Ah well, not to worry, i'm after a samurai axle.

SJ series had varying axle widths, the original SJ410 was the narrowest (fugres escape me at the moment), then the SJ413, then the Samurai.

Popular misconception about the SJ series being prone to rolling over, they FEEL really unstable cornering at speed (as any high C.O.G. vehicle does), but the main scare was caused by an erroneous report in the US by Consumer Reports

yes, i am a zook nerd :p

I've just sorted Insurance online for 18 quid a month :p
The Beast is on the road from Midnight Fully legal
I hope the heavens open overnight & things get messy.

Hmmm - can pick one up for £170 eh?? Man that's tempting for something to rag around in!

Go to Flea bay & type in Suzuki jeep there are a few on. The best being the blue one for just under 500 quid but that has the D flexs on like mine.
There is a cheapy 410 for less than a 100 though & a few others.

Hehe, my mate just sold an SJ, it was his first car. We had unbelievable amounts of fun in that thing off-road.

I hope you have as much fun in it as we did. :)

Up early this morning spannering. I changed the rear light cluster over & got my rear lights working legally. A complete Bodge even if i say so myself :D
Cut & chopped the wires & used gaffer tape to stick the clusters in the bumper :p Fully working & fully waterproof. Driving it on the road can only be described as like driving a tractor it's great fun, Everybody gets well out the way when i come round a corner that's for sure.
Towed the other one back to my plot up place & have sorted out access to my mates yard & All his welding gear
Next week is full on Jeep mission week so that she's ready for the next downpour & off road session. If i wasn't so busy helping a mate out this morning amongst my own missions i would have gone off road today. I do really need to give it the once over properly before hand though i s'pose.

I am pretty sure the spare has PAS on it but i don't know about the runner as all you can feel is Knobble :p The spare drives great by the way.
I think the spare has the later bits as it has auto diff locks on it. I'll have a proper look see tomorrow once i start missioning.

Auto lockers? Or locking front hubs?

Autolockers are worth a few bob, whereas front hubs are about 30 quid.

Switch the PAS kit over to your main machine the first chance you get.

Auto lockers i s'pose  My runner you have to get out & switch them where as the spares one are auto (so i am told) There is no external switching on the spares anyway it's covered with the little black plastic hubcaps.
I plan on sticking the PAS on mine & the wheels & tyres. The wheels & tyres will feel better on the road & will save me ripping my pluggers to bits. My runner is stripped out apart from drivers seat & harness so i can grind it up, weld it up then fit the rubber & bits & bobs of the spares jeep. I love having a complete spares runner it makes things so much easier & cheaper. I've done this sort of thing since a teenager, buy 2 & make a decent one & then plug the bits up for when i break something. It used to be Tina's & Eccys back in the day then on to Alfa suds & through just about anything else not modern.
Once things went all leccy i lost interest but these old things are mechanical & that suits me perfectly.

Edit.
Know anywhere i can get a cheap manual ?

Sounds like locking hubs m8, not diff-lock.

If you unlock the front hubs when you're in 2wd you get better fuel economy and handling (not having to push the front axle & diff around)

Get over to difflock.com, loads of links and stuff to sort you out over there.

Have you got any admin contacts over there as my registration email seems to have gone a miss :(
I signed up the other day but still haven't got confirmation.

Got my spares jeep plug up today & am already for some stripping out & swapping. It's great driving the zook about i am loving it. I stopped at my local cob shop today & a couple of lads pulled up i knew. They have zooks an all & took my number for future runs, the first being not this weekend but next.

Did you use the same username over there? Need to tell the admins which account to look at.

So I've been off road today. A mate came round in the week & between him & google maps I've found a few miles of green lanes. Not tuff at all in fact my truck thought i was joking to be honest & just cruised through it. Some big trenches were splashed through & they were deep enough to polish up my diff. They'll get a lot more challenging once the rain starts to come down regularly. Only ten minutes up the road as well so that'll be a regular haunt for me. Another mate is taking me over to some old brick yard with some decent climbs on it. I'll try & get some pics to post but today i just plain forgot & was laughing far to hard to hold a steady cam.
I spent All last week grinding out the floor & welding 3 plates in it & generally tweaking everything. It's a good cheap fun hobby that i would recommend to anyone who likes gettin dirty & going places others can not get to.
Major warning to All road users in my area. Do Not i repeat Do Not get up behind me unless you want your car Pebble Dashed :p

You're forgetting i have a spare. I stripped the engine ancillaries the other day. Gutted the rear shoes don't fit though as i need a new set. Handbrake is different to my Sammy :(
No doubt anything i need will be different from the box of spares i am gathering. I got myself an original unmolested Haynes manual today though from the local boot sale. Pleased with that & I've not stopped browsing it since getting it.
I don't mind spending a few quid here & there though as without labour costs to pay whatever it is won't be much. Whatever spares i do need i can get Trade anyways
It's just finding places to test it now as most green lanes are like tarmac roads to my beast :D These tractor ruts today were huge & pretty sloppy but to be honest i doubt i even needed 4wd.
There are a few of those pay per day places around here so I'll have to venture on to one now i am comfortable in it.
