Got hold of a Scythe Ninja rev B today to see if it was my TR SI-120 that was giving me high temps.
Removed my old hsf and mounted the ninja, fired up my machine got into windows and thought I'd try orthos to check out my load temps.
Looked at screen after 2 mins and it was showing 105c on both cores running at 3ghz with 1.375v set in Bios
Knocked orthos off and it went down to 60c idle, had a quick browse on the forums and found out that the rev B ninja and my rev 1 DS4 were incompatible due to the capacitors above CPU socket which were stopping the HSF making proper contact with the CPU.
Took the HSF off and had a look at the base and only 2 small dots of AS5 could be seen on the bottom corners of it meaning that the CPU was basically running with no HSF at all
Seems that these core2duos are pretty solid
10mins with the dremel and the HSF bracket and all is well luckily!
