Hi there

Just wondering what alarms you guys would suggest as being the top notch? Bearing in mind my new motors nothing too fancy (mk6 Fiesta) but I'd still be happier if it was belled up.

I've always used Toad before, Ai606 on my GTI-r and the 101 on my Mr2 - am just wondering if there's anything better or more upto date that the good people on these forums can suggest?

Thanks in advance

Get a sticker saying its alarmed.

An alarm being fitted will either stop someone breaking in, or it won't.

By the time they've broken in and set it off, they'll nick whatever they wanted and then run away. The alarm won't stop them.

I'd still feel happier if it was belled up tbh tho Foxy - have you just got "a sticker" on your beemer?

Or do you have a fancy alarm system?

Aw, hell, I can't find the link now.

I remember reading that something like 80-90% of car breakages are just to nick something on view, rather than actually taking the car itself.

Hide your goodies for starters.

Sorry I can't find the source, maybe someone on here can?

Just the factory alarm, no sticker. If somebody wanted to break in I don't think the alarm would stop them. I just make sure I don't leave anything they'd want on show.

Rubbish. When the alarm went off on the 220, I was up and out the front door in under 30 seconds. The flashing LED didn't deter them so a sticker certainly wouldn't.

If the car hadn't had an alarm, they would have bent the door back, broken in, trashed the car (as there was nothing in it worth stealing) or maybe even taken the handbrake off and pushed it down the road.

Good suggestions chaps and tbh I usually do hide anything that i'd consider high value - unfortunatley your always gonna get the chav that decides he/she is gonna simply smash a window/mirror just for the hell of it.

Granted there's not much anyone can do to prevent this but at least an alarm would wake me up - I might even make it to the car in time with my crossbow in order to get a few shots off ;)

I've been holding out for the Viper 500XV for ages...

2 way OLED pager system with 1 mile range... niiiice

Unfortunately there apparently has been a problem with the UK models so there's currently a recall in force. Waiting to hear back from installer on whether they're ready to be fitted yet.
