Vista 2GB RAM + ReadyBoost

Nah not really mate, or at least not at the moment. You will see applications loading a couple - few seconds quicker but that's about all. I think Microsoft have some plans for making ReadyBoost better with Vista SP1 but at the moment it's only advantage seems to come to users with 1GB or less of RAM.

YES, it will help and as you on 2GB it will help more then someone with 4GB.

I added Readyboost as I was fed up with HDD caching all the time, it helped tame it down, its not a super duper invention but it does work but the benefit gets less and less the more real Memory you have.

MS may not actually make it any better is SP1 as there is nothing that major in SP1 (Im a MS beta tester) they are going to raise the 4GB limit of ?Readyboost though sometime in future.

For the price of a 2GB Corsair GT I just went ahead and did it, it certainly does no harm.

I have 4GB RAM and I also have a 4GB Flash stick which I use for ReadyBoost.
My system is already quick (I've got a Q6700 CPU too) but the ReadyBoost stick just gave it that little bit more.
Considering 4GB sticks don't cost the earth these days I simply though why not.
It's a minor performance upgrade for very little cash.

Correct, you benefit less but as you have 4GB System Ram, you added a 4GB Flash to keep to the ideal 1:1 ratio.

It will deff help and as you say, cost is nothing really even if to stop the HDD rattling away at times with Prefetching doing its thing.

Quick Q. If you have the spare USB slots would you be better off getting two smaller USB sticks and using both, or one larger one? Will readyboost use more than one device? And can you RAID them? :D

One other thing, those using ready boost devices can you post the speed it's running at and the make/model of the USB stick. Should be an entry in the readyboost event log.

You can't RAID USB sticks for readyboost, though this is planned for future incarnations.

Has anyone used a memory stick pro duo for readyboost?

im using my 1gb mem stick out of my sony ericsson and i think its made things abit better but cant be too sure lol

Unless the USB stick meets certain speeds not just the read and writes, it wont be accepted for Readyboost use, but you can edit the Registry to make it work.

I had a older 2GB non GT Corsair Voyager and it wouldnt work but the GT's do.

I'm not sure there's any noticable difference, I'm using a 4GB Sandirck Cruzer and I can't say I've noticed much difference. I'm now running 4GBs of RAM too (since yesterday) and thats not done a lot either, Vista has always seemed quite nippy.

MS admit Vista Ultimate with all eye candy on is a memory hog, suppose its ok if you run Vista Starvin Marvin Edition :p

Vista will let go of used Memory when needed by an application you decide to run though.
