Anyone watch this middleweight title belt?

Pavlik can really take a punch!! Taylor was hammering him until the 7th, had already put pavlik on the canvas in the 2nd.

7th round win for Pavlik by KO in the end. Think hes something like 35 fights unbeaten now.

Wasnt so long ago people were talking about calzaghe vs taylor. seems a joke of a match up now :p

I thought Pavlik was on his way out in the second and Taylor looked the better puncher after that as well, but a superb finish and a shock result, nice.:)

It was a good fight, better than I thought it would be.

I don't really rate Pavlik, without his punch then he has nothing else to offer IMO. I had Abraham as #1 in the division going into the fight, could Arthur beat Pavlik.... Probably not to be honest since he can be quite open at times. On the other hand I think Abraham hits harder than Taylor does so could Pavlik handle that...

I would much rather see Abraham v Pavlik, than a rematch of Taylor v Pavlik.

Great fight.

Pavlik deserves his limelight after knocking out both Miranda and Taylor. Them punches from Taylor in the 2nd were nasty, ouch!!

Taylor has a rematch clause so I could easily watch this again :)

Great fight, Kelly Pavlik is one tough dude, with some great power in his right. Pavlik took a massive beating in the second, his legs were totally gone but he seemed to recover so quickly, and in the seventh Taylor got battered badly.
Taylor had quicker hands but Pavlik out boxed him, mainly with one twos and showed he has a ton of power and great defence.

What! Have you ever seen a Pavlik fight other than this one? He is not just a punch merchant see his last fight where he pummeled Miranda around the ring for 7 rounds with accurate punches and then tell me he is nowt without his punch.

The rematch clause is at catchweight so not really that inviting for Pavlik beens he makes 160 with ease.

indeed a cracking scrap - thought it was all over in the 2nd round mind u!!

Good comeback but Pavlik doesn't really seem to be world class but will see what happens with his first defense of the title.

I tipped Taylor to win a UD but knew in the first round he didn't have his usual gameplan going. He's been listening to too many people telling him he's a boring fighter and needs to start knocking people out. It completely changed his strategy and it almost worked for him, but for Pavliks great recovery rate.

However, the change in style was Taylors undoing. He clearly outpointed Pavlik and had Taylor boxed his usual defensive, countering, boring style, he'd have his UD and given Pavlik his first loss. I don't think Taylor could sustain that type of fight over the distance given the fact that that is Pavliks style of fight.

A bad move Taylor and one to learn from. Looking cool is one thing, losing is another, both is a luxury few fighters can enjoy.

Pavlik most certainly is world class. He's just knocked out one of the hardest-to-beat (stylewise) fighters you can get.

As a matter of fact I have seen Pavlik fight on 4 occassions (Taylor, Miranda, McKart, Zunaga(sp?)) and still maintain my original statement, without his punching power he is C+ class at best.

You can't seriously state that because a fighter beat Miranda (a very crude and raw slugger) makes them a good boxer. Miranda isn't exactly known for his boxing abilities, he also is nothing without a big punch. Heck a gun shy Abraham with a badly broken jaw outboxed Miranda.

Pavlik desearves the spotlight. He brought the best out of taylor (we havent seen it in a long time) and still won with a dominating finish.

Believe me, Taylor might have looked good for 6 rounds but that wasn't his best. He's a much more technical fighter than that and as I said earlier, had he stuck to his technical gameplan instead of thinking he's Naseem, he'd have won a UD.

Regarding the previous statements about the quality of Pavlik as a fighter:

He won't last long at the top (I reckon Mayweather/Wiliams/Calzaghe would do a 120-108 on him). Pavlik has power, take that away and there's someone with a great chin, good recovery, good stamina, but only above average defense. Someone who can quickly move and slip would nullify his strengths and leave Pavlik with something of a real fight on his hands. Abraham is not a fight he wants to take. Talk of Duddy however may further boost his stock as he takes a lot of punishment and delivers yet another KO.

Good luck to the guy though! It was a great fight.

A severely weight drained Miranda on the night, check the facts.

Actually Miranda struggled worse to make weight for the Pavlik fight due to him being ill. So I fail to see what kind of point you are trying to make.
It's no coincidence that Miranda has moved up to 168, so to devalue the fact that Abraham outboxed him with a broken jaw but state that Pavlik beating him (AFTER Abraham) is a good win just makes no sense IMO.
