The time is getting close (first car)

fiesta is about as good as it gets for cheap motoring really. possibly a corsa but they seem pricier for some reason (maybe 1st buyers are all girls who are willing to pay more?).

a clio might not be a bad idea either but generally anything french is expensive.

I'm deffo going to get a 1.1 fiesta with the same body as above. I've seen so many and i like them :)

I'm just really wondering if there is any forum or site other than auto trader i can have a browse :)

If you can, get the 1.25, its a much better engine, and shouldn't be much, if any, more to insure.

the body your on about is the mk4 fiesta... they didnt come with 1.1s so not sure what your on about? the mk4 fiesta 1.25 zetec is a very good first car and tbh that car you linked looks a good buy for that money.

as for forums, join UKFN, loads of helpful guys on there, lots of other mk4s aswell :)

I don't know what i'm on about either lol :p Don't know anything about cars :)

The 1.25 then! :)

The only thing in the link it doesn't say it has an MOT or Tax

I'm always so scared when buying my first car that it will just fail MOT with something majour wrong with it, or it will break down in the first month

It will no doubt come with MOT and Tax. I would ring up and find out as much as possible about it before viewing though. i.e. MOT, Tax, how much history comes with it, ever been in an accident etc...

The 1.25 fiestas are generally very reliable. Only things you have to watch out for are rust on a car like that, main place being the sills and the rear arches. The bottom ends have been known to go on the smaller zetec engines due to oil starvation, but this tends to be the 1.4 zetec. As long as its been serviced regularly you shouldn't have a problem. Its a very good little engine. :)

Sills are in the doorways as it were of the car. As you open the door, the baseplate of where you enter, usually covered up by a rubber sealant. Just peel the rubber back and check for rust. Very easy to do. :)

could be, obviously depends how bad the rust is.

if you do get one, make sure you do sign up to UKFN forum, very helpful forum on any problems you may encounter with your fiesta :)

Thanks loads mate, signed up ready.

Just need to pass now :)

In the exact same position as you mate. Booked my test and have around £1,000 to spend.

Basically, I've been on the autotrader most days the past couple of weeks and for £1k you could get a ~1998 100k 1.25. So obviously the lower the budget, the older the car. These are prices around London, so you may be able to get more for your money in your area.

you should be able to get a much lower mileage 1.25 fez for a grand mate... well you can down here in Cornwall and its generally one of the most expensive places in the UK to buy a car down here... keep searching, youll find one.

Found a S-reg, with 65k for £1,300, probably the best deal so far.

I've only looked on Autotrader though, I might try loot as well.
