Hi guys. I just gave in and ordered a Q6600 GO stepping for a fantastically low price from another retailer. I would like to know if my Aquaextreme MP-05 Pro LE cpu block will still be ok for use with the Q6600. I really don't want to change it if i can help it. The rest of my rig will stay the same and it's just a straight cpu swap. The other W/C components are:-

Aquaextreme 50z pump.
Aquaextreme MP-05 Pro LE cpu block.
EK 8800GTS Full cover GPU block.
XSPC X2O Chipset Block.
Alphacool NexXxoS Xtreme III Radiator.
3x XinRuiLian 0.40amp 2400RPM 120mm Fans.
XSPC 250mm Passive Aluminium Reservoir.
All barbs are 1/2" and tubing is Masterkleer 7/16".

The rad is mounted in a radbox in a window and the fans are mounted on a shroud to get rid of any dead spots. The inlet for the rad is filtered air directly from outside and as it is fairly cold up here and winter is approaching temps should be excellent providing the MP-05 Pro LE is still man enough.

The loop is Res>Pump>CPU>NB>GPU>Rad. Currently the GPU being the last block is not a problem as the 8800GTS clocked at 650/1650/1000 never goes above 40 degrees under load. Normally it's around 35-38 degrees.

Cheers for your guidance. :)

It should be fine but be aware there are now other blocks on the market that will outperform it.

Hi W3bbo, I guess the MP-05 Pro is knocking on a bit now but it still keeps my hugely clocked 4300 superbly cool. Never goes over 35 degrees on full load and is mostly down around 25-30 degrees. I suppose a quad that is going to get clocked for all it's worth is a different story though. I think the best i can do is try it and see what temps i can achieve and if they are not that good i will get a fusion (best block at the mo?).

The Fuzion will outperform the MP-05 by a good few degrees because it has a larger contact area that matches well with quads. It would be a sound upgrade.

Just been reading through some reviews and forums about the Fuzion and it seems to really easily bend the motherboard. I thought that this was sorted now and it came with a backplate.

I have the Fuzion and it is a great Waterblock, as said above it is superb for quad core. One thing though, when you get it you need to open it and clean the thing out. There will be excess rubber inside which will need to be cleaned out prior to use. This takes around 2 minutes and is dead easy.

They don't come with a back-plate, but, as the mounting tension is controlled by a limiting block on each leg, you cannot over-tighten it, so anyone bending the mainboard has tightened it up unevenly or has uneven tension somewhere.

Some scary mobo bending going on in this thread . Either he has overtightened it or he had Uri Geller come over to fit it for him. Check out the lapped quad in the first piccy. :D Apparently if you read further down some guys did some sort of Swiftech challenge and broke a mobo with this block.

It came today. :D:D:D Went straight in at 3.2Ghz (8x400). Temps are 20/21/20/22 at idle and 37/38/41/40 after 2 hours of prime with a 1.35v vcore. Not too bad for an old waterblock. Not bothering with piccys as i have'nt finished by a long shot yet. Hoping for 4Ghz.
