online poker - which is best?

sorry i'm really new to all this... whats a "bad beat"?

could someone post a quick rundown on poker etiquete so i dont do this kind of thing?

lol, you will do it at some point to somebody if you play the game.

A bad beat is usually recognised as hitting the only card in the deck that could turn your losing hand into a winning one. They can be worse than that, but it gives you an idea.

I used to play PartyPoker - However recently I was told you can now play with playmoney on PKR and so I transferred, and I'm loving it :)

That still doesn't make sense and I understand the very basic poker lingo.
I'm guessing that it means something like getting your hand on the river (last card). Getting a cheeky second pair or something. I dunno, though.

pkr is visually the best, but is let down in its size, i've not played for real money on there though so can't comment, other than that i used to play on pokerstars a lot, very good it is too except when usin play chips (any game that uses play chips is usually spoilt by noobs who go all in without seeing any cards every hand (though pokerstars you can only buy in 1000 play chips in an hour)).

At the moment i'm playing on ladbrokes poker for real money because they have treble chance at about £3 a game (you start on level 1 on a table of 10, finish in top 3 to go to level 2, finish in top 3 to go onto level 3 or finish 4th to drop down to level 1 again, same with level 3, finish top 3 to get to the final table then top 3 win cash prize, (3rd wins $200, 2nd wins $300 and winner wins $500, 4th gets to play level 3 again.)

Right so you really can't think of a simplified version of "hitting the deck"...

Jesus, do you want me to wipe your backside for you too. If somebody hits a 5 on a roll of a dice, can you understand what has happened? If somebody needs to hit one card in a deck to make a hand a winning hand, they need to pick or be dealt the one card in the deck which does this.

Please, if you're going to quote me, make sure it's something I have said.

could someone explain something to me... a few of you now have said the standard of play is low on pkr... how is that bad if the players are bad surely you can get their money off em easier? if you cant beat them and they end up with the cash, then hell thats a good player in my book?

Bad players are less likely to pick up on signs that you have a good hand (generally through the size and timing of bets as there isn't much opportunity for tells online) and thus don't realise that their best option is sometimes just to fold. They get married to their hand and on the river they catch one of the two cards that enable them to win. If they repeat the same play over and over, they should in theory only win perhaps 4 out of every 100 times making it a very very poor play, yet they don't know any better and have lucked out. Such is what you would call a 'bad beat'.

That's why bad players aren't the amazing prospect for earning money that they might appear to be, as they heavily amplify the luck side of the game.

EDIT - I just wanted to add a little youtube clip showing that even the pros are not immune to the occasional dodgy decision:
:D

Nothing beats playing live poker, it can be really enjoyable at a friendly table.

I play down my local Rileys, I recommend you all look into it.
