OK - I have one of these but my other wireless controller has plain vanilla AA bats in it. Can I place 2100mH batteries into the cradle and use the cable from play and charge kit to charge them up inside the controller so I dont have to remove them to charge?

no, the power from the play and charge comes from the contacts in the center of the "socket", not from the contact springs.

The inside of the rechargable 360 batteries contain rechargeable samsung AAs IIRC, we opened a faulty one where i work. Was interesting...

mobile phones used to use the same either a job lot of button batteries or a few aa's encased or sometimes not encased. cheating robbing swines.. 10 quid for 2 aaa's

if u buy the premium 360, do you have to buy the playncharge kit to charge the wireless controllers?

When you buy the 360, the wireless controller doesn't come with a rechargeable battery pack - it just uses two AA batteries.

It's up to you then to get the Play and Charge kit if you want to, or stick with AA batteries or rechargeable AA's.

man, xbox360 costs are mounting up lol, need to buy games, playncharge and wireless adapter. Is the official wireless adapter the only one that works, its going for £60 in a few places...

It's the only USB wireless adapter that will work.

A cheaper solution is to get a ethernet wifi adapter and connecting it to the 360 via it's ethernet port - just looking at OCUK they list three under 'gaming adapters" in the wifi seciton.

Or just use a wireless access point that can run in client mode ;) Like a WRT... Could get silly range then too! Though it's no where near as convenient if your 360 ever travels compared to the wireless thing that just slaps on the back...

Can't believe so many people have wireless controllers and use a Play-n-Charge kit

Just buy a Quick Charge Cradle, and an extra rechargeable battery pack.

That way you've got one in your controller and one in the charger, as soon as one gets close to dying swap them over. Put the charged one in the controller and and the dead one in the charger...

Wireless gaming, and constant charging... jobs a good-un.

I play my 360 for about 6+ hours a day every day. Weekends is more... And I go through one recharge pack a month before I have to swap them over. Sometimes they last closer to 2 months.
