Just maxing my CPU clockspeed + memory out on both OS. Thought it might interest a few folk who show an interest in benching. Xp will probably do a little more with extra vcore but I doubt the memory(ballistix [email protected]) can be pushed much higher.

Max Vista - 4.12ghz (1.65v)

Max XP - 4.23ghz (1.62v)

Both cooled by water. No elaborate phase change/dice/ln2 cooling here :P

This is by no means prime stable nor do I intend to get it stable so don't ask lol - I spent quite enough time getting 4gig stable (see sig). This is purely a quick bench.

Seems Vista has some way to go before it can replace XP as a benching OS:D.

lol no m8. Its running on less vcore than the more punishing prime run @ 4ghz.

Curiosity got the better of me with XP vs Vista.

could 4 gig stable be acheived on air, tuniq tower 120 w/ akasa amber, 2x 120mm amber intake, 1x akasa 120mm exhaust

EDIT, ive got it at 3.2 stable atm on stock volts, 401*8, would 450*8 be pushing it, i know my ram can do 450 (that was with 2x1gb geil 6400 c4) ive now got 4x1gb geil 6400 c4

Its possible I guess but you will need an exceptional cpu for that as well as a decent board. Temps may present a problem on air but I say go for it :D

You are putting more stress on the NB with 4gb m8 aswell as running high FSB with an 8x multi. You will perhaps get better success with 2gb and the 9x multi. Keep going until you hit problems then maybe drop it back to a 9x multi with a lower fsb.

What version of Vista are you using? Since it has a lot more processes running than XP then it's not surprising it doesnt bench as well. One could always create a cut down bench Vista then compare again.

Nice going BTW....now add more jiggawatts. :D

I'm running 450x8 stable with 4x1 gb ram. But if you're aiming for 4 ghz stable on air I would probably use 9x multi.
