We like to laugh at some of the e-mails that other forum members post but it just goes to show how serious it really is. Another interesting point is that many people on dating web sites are targeted because they are more likely to be reluctant in reporting the fraud, probably due to fear of ridicule.
The example given about one man sending £12,000 to a "woman" he met online makes me wonder if we should really laugh at the people conned or not.
Thousands of fake cheques worth an estimated £8m have been seized in an operation targeting international e-mail scams.
