So my mind got carried away today after seeing a friends new VTR I was reasonably impressed got me thinking (they can also be picked up for peanuts with decent spec). The Focus is nice but as for sporty well it's there is practically nothing sporty about the car all be it very practical though but I feel it may possibly be too much car for my needs at times. Just curious what others experiences are with these cars and wheather its advisable. TBH I most likely won't get one it's just my mind getting carried away, It would obviously be the 1.6 120BHP version I would consider. Nothing less. Opinions?, Thoughts?

What about handling surely the VTR is going to be nicer. The VTR was one of the cars I was considering last year but eventually plumped for the Focus. I believe the VTR's are fairly unreliable so that puts me off a bit. Saying this though I have had a multitude of little niggles with the Focus in 10 months of ownership.

Looking at those aswell. Insurance also may be an issue so it seems less and less attractive the more I take my time to think about the bigger picture.

I thought there was something wrong when i was reading that too!
They are a fun little car (VTS), some people don't like the pedal positions. they do have an image problem being a favourite of the boy racer brigade but if you get over that they can be quite entertaining.
Being a student I don't really have the cash to spill out on big problems. But the handling and thrills of the VTR/VTS is really attractive. Meh
I agree with everything bar the reliability. If you pick up a low mileage example which has been well looked after, there's nothing to say it won't last as long as any other car

Obviously I'd get more for my Focus than that so this is why it seems attractive but you guys are right I would miss the focus somewhat. Bar it's annoying little issues that seem to creep up out of no where!

Go for a VTS if you're going to do it Tom.
I'm not sure what your mate has been telling you but the VTR is a 1.6 8V (90 BHP for the MK1 and 98 BHP for the MK2). The VTS is the 16V with 120 BHP

These seem reasonable Obviousy with the VTR being 98bhp lump it's still going to feel fast or faster than the Focus due to weighing a fair bit less I presume?
