Just been browsing the auction site and saw a S754 3700+ currently at £80 + £4.50 p&p!!!

Why would someone pay £85 for a S754 chip when they could buy AM2 and mobo for less than that or a S775 rig for that matter? Some people shouldn't be given money to spend.

Rofl... haha, yes it is quite ludicrous some of the prices there, which is why I am happy to spend most of my time here in the MM and get a bargain.. (and hopefully not feed a nigerian family)

Simple.

A fool and his money are soon parted.

And there seems to be a large proportion of fools about in th UK these days. Whether thats to do with the basic life skills that people are no longer taught by their parents / schools or the fact they spend their early years comatose / doped up or just lazing about - I'm not sure.

All I know is - there are more muppets now than ever before. And if you factor in the increased number of conmen - it makes a thriving economy.

Yup, I sold my old X850XTPE AGP card on there for £175 not too long back... a lot of money for a card that doesn't support SM2, especially now games are becoming standard with SM3... and the fact its an AGP card.

The auction site is more well known about the general population. I doubt OcUK has the same kind of brand-name reach so many won't realise the value of these items.

The 754 3700 has always kept it's value, it's the fastest desktop release for that socket. I imagine there are some who are just wanting a quick upgrade rather than have the hassle of a full system upgrade.

Might just be high demand of products no longer made...

say you love your rig... and didnt have masses of money for new mobo, cpu, ram and graphics... the only thing you might be able to do is get the mighest processor your mobo wull support... and if there are people in the same situation, they will be really wanting it too! Hence the silly prices :P

Same things happens here, anything of s478 and socket A is worth gold.
Dad sold a 3200+ xp for 90€, an A7n8x-e Deluxe gold for 70€, an asus p4c800-e Deluxe for 75€ and a 3.4 ghz scott for 120 €.

Lots of interest too.

Not stupidity, it's called knowing the value of stuff, I actually find the people who ask what to do with lets say a 3ghz p4 stupid, and consider throwing it away, you guys don't know the value of pc parts...

Last week I typed in Toneport KB37 and on the page were two shops selling brand new ones for £199 but a 2nd hand one was being bid on and it was up to £220.

Yeah i understand that, but that's exactly my point you don't need masses of money nowadays to get a new rig (unless you are going for the top end stuff) Whoever wins said lot could buy a new mobo and chip for what he has paid for just the chip. He can still get an AGP mobo to suit his card if that's what he has and all he would need to do would be spend and extra 30-40 on ddr2, surely it's better to spend £120-30 for an up to date system than £85 for a now obsolete chip.

I don't know i guess i just assume everyone is like me. When it comes to buying new hardware or upgrading i look about to see where the best value is.
