It's already long time ago that a new racing sim came out, any news when a new F1 for PC is due ???

As far as I know there won't be one until Sony give up the rights.
You're stuck with mods for rFactor, and the BMW Sauber in LFS.

So for the moment stuck with 2007 mod for EA F1 99-02, not bad, but a DX10 game would be great i think

Let's hope that EA will buy them again, so that we can enjoy again. Sony did nothing with them. Wonder why they spend the money on it?

GP3 Was a brilliant game, very dated now though. I remember when it first came out my local cyber cafe used to have all night F1 sessions and they had the steering wheels out, big screens and plenty of drink. Ah memories !

The opposite for me; the EA F1 games just looked wrong, floating cars and all that. They had no atmosphere. I'll admit F1 Challenge was ok, but Crammond's games were superior. They were just so damn playable.

I don't like the physics in the Geoff Crammond games. They seem too arcadey, with canned crash behaviour and the like, rather than "real-world" physics calculations. After I played GPL yeeeears back and got heavily into it, I couldn't drive GP2 anymore. Tried and hated GP3, and didn't bother with GP4. I had EAs F12002, which was cool, but I was at uni and off the internet at the time, so fell out of contact with the modding community and lost interest.

The CDTP and FSOne mods, and the built in BMW Sabuer in rFactor are the best out there at the moment for modern F1 on a PC.

Well, EA's F1 Challenge was received very well by the gaming community. I only played the 2002 version, but that drove well. The Challenge game is still alive and well, with lots of mods - including a 1986 F1 Turbo mod, and a Group C sportscar mod. The graphics still look very acceptable as well, with the latest user made updates.

In fact, if I see F1C lying in a bargain bin somewhere, I'd be inclined to pick it up.

I thought the series had evolved pretty nicely over the last few years under Sony Liverpool's hand.
