Think Fudzilla are a bit over excited this morning! Interesting if true.

I'm wondering if the 2900XT really needed a 512MB bus or if it was just overkill. If ATI have made enough changes to the card to fully support DX10.1 might they not do better under DX10 grenerally? It looks like they're killing off R600 in a hurry. I'm wondering if that's becuase they've realised that they're never going to get particularly good DX10 performance out of it and are ushering in a replacement PDQ.

It would be interesting to see ATI take a feature set lead over nVIDIA again. That's not really been the case since the 9700Pro.

FUDZilla is so often wrong it and is based on unverified information. Knowing about rumours are good, but they always put them across as fact which is irritating.

Indeed. It's fun keeping an eye on all the rubbish that flies around but I'm trying to keep an eye out for reliable sources.

Of the 'early reporters' vr-zone hasn't done badly of late. I don't tend to take Inq, daily-tech or fudzilla very seriously.

Do you guys reckon it's worth not getting a 2900pro, as it doens't have dx10.1 support and shader 4.1? (I assume games are closer to using these than they were with shader 3).

LOL, Dailytech isn't an early reporter. In fact sites like Xbit Labs often have news before they do.

Dailytech are also my #1 source of PC news, since their Anandtech website is pretty much undoubtebly the most well-reputed and unbiased source out there. Putting it in the same sentence as Inq and Fud is a crime.

D'oh! A while ago I regarded Dailytech as you do and somewhere along the line I got it into my head that they were reporting rumour as fact. Just been back there and I'm seeing nothing but official announcements etc.

Comment officially retracted ;)

Then my work here is done. *Waits for cheque from Anandtech.* :p

I though AndandTech was pretty good then heard a fair few references to it being biased. The forums are ok ;)

Any news is better than none I suppose, i just like a little truth in it.

I find it funny how the 'early reporters' frequenly refer back to previous articles when they got it right. Didn't see that happening much when G80 turned out to have unified stream processors rather than separate pixel and vertex shaders.

Sometimes I wish it was less competitive (or more?) so companies wouldn't be afraid to release early information. Intel currently do this and keep us all informed so we know what to expect rather than just hype. When it turns out better than expected (due to having the facts not the hype) they get better reviews :)

Matthew

Intel are worse than the Fuds and Inqs of this world for putting out info about GPUs. They keep telling us that we can play games on their integrated graphics...

So it's looks like an X2950XT will perform somewhere in the region of an X2900XT clocked at 850Mhz-875Mhz (Dependent on the affect of 256bit memory bus). Can someone benchmark there xt at that to see what likely performance will be please lol.

Matthew

lol anyone couldve written that. the thing on the x2950x2x is like 2 sentences long, not one claim about where its from.

i NEVER use any information from FUD for a reason

Until I came on here I never even heard of FUDZilla. I read one article and realised they were full of poop. They work with pure speculation.

I personally hope they got more stream processors and a free duck in every 2950xt package :)

Matthew

Mmm... Duck.

I had a quarter crispy aromatic duck to myself last night. Four quarters would be worth the price of a graphics card (aside from the obvious implications of a quarter being £6 at my local Chinese takeaway).

Ahh... but with this duck, you also get the brains... and the feet. The trick is in keeping it alive long enough till it reaches you.

Obviously the MUST be including a duck, else there would be more room for the extra stream processors. I see AMD's dilema here.. and obviously the duck was cheaper than research and development ;)

i like crispy duck might have to ditch the gts for an xt or pro cause a duck at them temps should be crispy enough :D
