European Football *Spoilers* 2/3/4 October

The only thing that's poor is the arrogance of the Big 4 :)

Rubbish, in the days of European Cup only being for the League champions you would have had plenty of (genuine) top sides playing in the Uefa cup, even 5-6 years ago when it was only the top 2 or 3 in the CL you would end up with a few top sides where as now it is getting the 5-7th best sides in the leagues and its become meaningless.

Are you forgetting it was only the other season when middlesborough got to the final(it was wasnt it?) under mcclaren with there usual appauling football, fighting back at the end and getting jammy and going through each round?
The same season they finished what.. 12th or 14th? And were only ruled out of relegation on the last game or something?
a lot of the teams in UEFA are really carp though.. how our teams struggled last night i dont know.. it all goes wrong when liverpool lose i guess :)

This years UEFA Cup is probably the strongest for a while.

Bayern Munich and Athletico Madrid are the 2 stand outs for me. It'll only get stronger too when people drop down from the CL.

But on the whole I agree, the quality hasn't been that good over the past few years.

McMav and McRod, what are you two? A comedy double act? Not got a decent bone in you to congratulate Celtic on a magnificent victory? Do you just want to concentrate on the actions of one idiot and then try to blow it out of all context? Need I tell you about the shameful history of your own club and it's supporters?

Concentrate on the game and enjoy the fact that Scottish footie is on the way up. Oh, well done Aberdeen, hang in there lads and get yourselves through to the next round.

Err you clearly missed the first line in my post which was :-

Good result for the tic

However we cant have the carpet sweepers out to hide the fact that a fan gotonto the park and got to lay hands on a player without challange whatsoever.

Secondly Yes you have a great record and sweeping incidents under the carpet

1. uefa fine for fans throwing bottles ontot he park at the San siro in last seasons Champ leage game.

2. Fans attacking the Press bus again at the San Siro.

So dont talk **** pal you have as many problems as any other club in Scotland its just swept under the carpet as the press are intimidated all the time by your support.

Superscoreboard live after the game.

Call from disgruntled Caltic fan at the ground. "Listen mate turn yourself in while you are still in good health."

Nice fans.

Lol @ dida

and thanks for the holiday Gilly, i didnt really consider that word offensive, or a sweary with it being used frequently on Channel 4 tv programme in the evenings.

Thing is its impossible to to get a dons email address to query when you've been suspended and its not helpful that the banning don doesnt email you to let you know why you've been suspended so that you can put a repentant case forward,

Nice fans.

Yes we are, thanks. We didn't get that UEFA award for nothing. :D

Can you give any instances of Cetic fans intimidating the press? The attack on the bus was due to the fact that it nearly ran over a group of supporters. Similar to an ugly incident in Spain when fans where attacked by Police for no reason.

I never said Celtic where better than any other team but then Celtic fans don't proclaim to be the 'people', unlike your lot.

You're right, the stewards and police that we pay a great deal of money to for every match failed to do their job when 1 fan out of 60,000 ran onto the pitch.

Point number 1: an empty plastic bottle was thrown last year, it's a disgrace and UEFA saw fit to give us a hefty £300 fine for it, the persecutor has not yet been jailed as far as I know.

Point 2: A window on the press bus was smashed, if I recall correctly a Scottish journalist claimed it was a Celtic fan although no authorities ever sought to take any action and he has never provided any evidence to back up such a claim.

Your final paragraph I would also have to disagree with. Whilst we do have problems as any large fan-base will have on the whole we are very well-behaved and even well-received in most places we play. UEFA agreed by giving us a special award for it.

I also think those 2 examples you sensationalised above are pathetic and if that's the best you can do if you're looking for examples of bad behaviour from our fans then i'm delighted because I consider them both minor and very weak and I imagine other neutral fans would find them laughable as well.

I'd also have to disagree with your point saying we have as many problems as other teams in Scotland. For example I think you ought to take a more introspective look at your own teams fan-base before being judgmental about other teams.

I expect to get a fine for this incident but no more given Milan support us and our exemplary record. Inter played behind closed doors because their fans had been given multiple warnings beforehand about behaviour and flares and such and we have no history of fans invading the pitch at all so it would be silly and pointless.

As for the press being intimidated by us, paranoid much? lol

to be honest you are right, the amount you pay for security to stop things like this happening and it goes and happens? Bad bad police and stewards to be honest!
Im fairly sure if the fan had a knife and dida saw it the giraffe legged drama-queen could have quite easily DIVED(PUN!) out the way, or even ran heaven forbid.. its not like dida avoided contact with the fan is it.

Well done celtic, unlucky dida, the match was not abandoned, you lose, you're a doorknob.

You're welcome :)

There's contact information and rules in the FAQ. Not being able to find that contact info means you haven't read the FAQ and so any case you put forward would be dismissed anyway.

BTW, you were mailed. If your mail account doesn't work as it should it is not the fault of the OcUK mod team.

End of discussion.

Very true. A lot of fans of the Big 4 aren't even worth talking to anymore. Not all, just a LOT of them.

Millwall, Southampton and West Ham have all reached the final of the FA cup in the last 5 years so does that make the FA Cup a poor competition?

Unfortunately its fast becoming that. The big 4 have been getting accused of being disrespectful to the FA cup over the last few years but name the last year when one of the big 4 didn't win it?

The gulf between the big 4 and the rest is getting bigger and bigger and that doens't look like changing without an RA type takeover and spending spree.

How on earth did Blackburn lose? They are a decent side in the prem and they were playing complete nobodies.

As mentioned they are a decent side. We played like dummies over in Greece and payed the price. We should have been dead and buried in the first leg, Larissa could have scored 4 or 5 :o Last night was better, but not by much, Larissa wanted it more than us.

For some reason hughes decided to play a 4-5-1 formation which everybody could see wasn't working. Utter tosh until he changed to 4-4-2 at halftime, even then we huffed and puffed without really threatening. I think Benni mac will be away in January, he looks disinterested and lethargic.

I was really looking forward to a nice trip in Europe with the lads this year as well :( Hey, ho.

Then were Liverpool disprespectful to the Premiership last week when Rafa didn't play Torres from the start? How do you deem a team to be disrespectful?

ANY team, fans and players alike, wants to win the FA Cup, it's still a special competition.

Ive not said they are being disrespectful but they get accused of it when they leave out players. Its very difficult to deem what being disrespectful is because the 'squad players' of the top 4 would get into the majority of the rest of the leagues first 11 and like i say the top 4 keep winning it even when they leave out players in the earlier rounds.

The League and the CL take far more importance to the likes of Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea, so although it may be of great importance to the rest of the league its not thought of in the same way as the top 4 (the view of the clubs, not the fans that is) and this was not the case in years gone by; on the new lfc tv channel there was an interview with Ian St John and he was talking about winning the FA cup as his biggest achievement (ahead of the league), i don't think that can be said now.
