Wii 'Star Wars' lightsaber out November

By David Gibbon, Gaming Reporter

While LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has been promoted as the first title to offer virtual lightsaber use, a new Lego game has jumped to the front of the queue after a November 9 release date was confirmed by publisher TT Games.

Lego Star Wars: The Complete Sega aims to lure gamers by offering them the chance to use the Wii Remote as a virtual lightsaber, with the company claiming it has the potential to be this year's Christmas number one.

Richard Earl from TT Games’ marketing division told MCV: “The Wii controller offers all sorts of new, fun and accessible ways for people to play with Lego characters – and swinging away with your lightsaber is a brilliantly cool part of the Lego Jedi experience.

“Vader’s new Force Choke/Force Throw move has a particularly big impact, when you’re flinging enemies around using the Wii controller. Of course we hope The Complete Saga can hit the Christmas number one spot, but there are many other strong titles on the horizon. We’ll have to wait and see.”

LucasArts' Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is not due for release until Spring, offering gamers the chance to play as Darth Vader’s ‘secret apprentice’, wielding the Wii remote as a lightsaber and using the nunchuck to unleash the Force

in lego star wars its just a gesture like twilight princess's sword.

tbh it all looks a bit tacked on as far as the light sabre controls, and if you watch him moving the controller you can see that the element of control does not look that precise.

Hopefully the "real" Wii light sabre game will have a much better control scheme (I have no doubt it will, this lego game is a just a port with tacked on controls for gimmicky affect by the looks of it).
