It even has a leaked slide! Looks like the dual RV670 configuration is indeed true. If a single card is 1.5x faster than 2 2900XT's in CF then the teraflop beast age is indeed here.

Now if Intel doesn't get SLI, Nvidia cards in Vista still have driver issues, and the R680 actually fixes the AA and other performance issues, getting one of these and being able to CF it w/ Intel boards might be worth a shot.

If it works, look at the GX2, only worked on certain boards, if a game wasn't SLi, then it only ran as a single 7900 GT, and they can't tell me crossfire works with everything, as Bioshock will tell you that, i just aint got a clue why AMD are going down that road, surely when they saw the GX2 they thought "thats a bad idea".

I think crossfire is an overall better solution than sli and i think they going
down this route because they need to with the r600 line not performing as
good as it should have. Wonder if these cores will be a different design to
the r600 and maybe sort some of the issues that the r600 had ie the aa
performance hit.

Plus its just admitting defeat, they can't beat Nvidia with single cards, so they are having to slap 2 cards together to beat em, oh dear, talk about humiliating, this is the one thats supposedly coming to take on the old 8800 Ultra.

I stopped there.

Anyone could have made that slide and the GPU pic, yeah I know there insider or whatever has said that it's true but until I start seeing pictures of the actual PCB from very respectable sources or even AMD themselves then I'll hold my breath as to what it can and can't do.

Beats me either I dont know why Nvidia/ATI are doing this dual cards war now, seems pointless cos 6-12 months later the technology/process gets to the point where its a single card again and its better then the last.

Guess the question about why ATI are doing it doesnt even need an answer ;)

Both companies wouldnt be doing it without a good reason still, perhaps crysis/UT3 shows a double boost in fps or another game...

It isn't faster than 2x 2900 XT's though, they say its only 1.5x faster than 1x 2900 XT, heap of crap imo, jesus the amount of heat that things gona throw out.

Although I will only beleive it when I see it for real, they say it's 1.5 times quicker than a pair of 2900xt in crossfire. Therefore if 1.5 times quicker than a pair it's going to be at least 2 times quicker than a single 2900xt......if true of course. ;)

seems like the same sort of improvement when sli is used in certain games

although it does depend on the game a lot, quake wars has like a 90% improvment with sli and xfire

AMD/ATi are fighting 2 battles at once, Core V Phenom, and Radeon V Geforce. And they seem to be late, and underperforming in both battles.

Not saying Phenom's bad... by the look of it its very comparible with Core 2, but it should have been considerably faster as Intel are already very far into development of Nehelem.

We need AMD and ATi to be strong, to keep development rolling at a high speed. Neither Nvidia or Intel are both able to sit back, and sell their current hardware. Core 2's only increased from 2.93 to 3Ghz since it was released! (Ok Quads are nice.. but still), Likewise the 8800GTX has been around for a while now.

Oh yeah it does say 2x 2900 XT's, but what a stupid way to say it, its 1.5x times faster than A 2900 XT in Crossfire. :p

That ive gota see, i don't believe it at all. :D
