Just got a reply from Dell, after a nice 50+ page debate on the recently Dell 2407 HC ghosting issue got this reply from Chris@Dell:

RP3X,
Are you suggesting Dell are not going to fix the issue or new revision?

* It is not a suggestion, it is a statement. We are not going to fix the ghosting issue on the 2407WFP-HC. Nor will we create another revision of the 2407WFP-HC to fix the ghosting issue.

So that pretty much sums up Dells support, lets release a faulty screen and not repair it:rolleyes:

Cant complain too much cos never brought one anyhow, perhaps Gibbo or someone knows if the rumours are true and that dell are simply gonna bring a new line of screens?

yep, they aren't releasing a fix:

Dell have today given their official statement regarding the ghosting issue on the 2407WFP-HC. The crux of the matter is that Dell will not be releasing an update or fix for this, and admit that the issue is related to the RTC impulse and 'overshoot' caused by it's application. You can read the full response in our article.

Dell have said you can either keep the monitor, or initiate a refund. Details of how to arrange a return are enclosed in the email they sent out, and in our article. At this stage I believe this applies for US customers only.

Outrageous!

Simply not acceptable.
I hope many many thousands of -HC owners return it and go to a different vendor / brand...that will send the message loud and clear that this sort of corporate neglect of its customers simply isn't acceptable in these times.

A monitor of this size and price (in the £400 region) is a large investment for many and one not taken lightly, hence the frequent posts of, "is this good enough", "will this work" "concerned about this...." in the monitor forums..and why TFTcentral is used to the extent it is as people research what is probably one of the more important components of any PC.

I was also watching this topic carefully as I am still looking for a 22 or 24" monitor and thought Dell were leading the way with the 2407 and their CS...no longer it would seem (although yes I am aware the non HC may be still a good monitor, perhaps not quite suited to my needs being a full on Gamer ) it is concerning that a company takes this stance.

Im a HC owner. Im someone who cant notice the problem, or if i am it simply isnt registering as an issue.

Although im aware there is an issue which some users of this monitor find unnacceptable, shocking, outrageous etc i personally believe a lot of people will only be aware of the problem because they've read about other people experiencing it - not because they've actually experienced it themselves and that its causing them grief. I think dells response of offering a full refund to those who want it and not releasing a fix is proportional to the severity of the problem. From a business point of view, why would they spend time and money to fix a problem that the majority of its owners didnt know existed in the first place?

I can understand why the more 'elite' users are up in arms about it BUT I think it would be a shame for people to pass up this monitor because of an issue that (chances are) they'll probably never realise is occuring. My hunch is the majority of the people who bought this screen couldnt be happier with their purchase. I know i am.

Simply Boggles the mind what Dell are doing, they offer such amazing support ie 4 year Business next day swop out/Dead pixel policy.... and then they admit our units are faulty and dont do anything?!

Boggles and frys my brain, having said that im still not sure what 24inch screen to go for, I suppose I can create colour/contrast profiles and adjust the brightness/contrast with my Dell 2407 non hc screen during DVI connection. Proberly wont notice 1.1 business either.

I bet soon as I buy it the 2408 HC arrives....

Having seen several videos of the problem on youtube I disagree, it looked really bad and really obvious to me. It was a lot lot worse than the ghosting I get on an old 25 ms screen I have (samsung 172T). If the screen is rated 8 ms then that's how it should perform. Maybe yours just doesn't have the problem.

My HC is in dual next to a 172T funnily enough, and personally (as is expected) i find the HC is streets ahead in every respect bar none.

How bad is the ghosting?
Can you only notice it in gameplay, or also in DVD playback?
I've been waiting for this sceen ages. If it's not that bad I'll order one.

Maybe you got lucky and yours doesn't have the problem though. My 172T has nothing like the ghosting showed in those videos. I presume you can see the problem in the videos.

These sort of subjects are very debatable since what might be really bad ghosting to one person another person might not reconise it at all.

Dell should have replaced them with a different model atleast. This is why reviews are good before you buy.

Had an HC for a few months now. I've seen all the youtube videos and tried to copy the exact situation on my monitor. I did n't get any of the ghosting they have and its not like you could miss it if you did.

Its a concern because obviously there is a problem and I quite agree thats its really bad something like this has got through the Dell quality control but I can't criticise mine if its working great for me, which it is.
