Been driving for about a year now and want to get rid of my current Corsa 1.2.

Due to a job starting in April/July 2008 that would require a fair bit of driving, I was going to get myself a Mondeo to munch the miles.

Then I thought, I don't actually need it right now. I could get something for the next 5 months as I really can't stand this Corsa any more! I say 5 months but it could be a bit more. Even so, I won't be clocking up the miles.

Browsing Ebay and spotted this Celica:

Will hopefully be selling my Corsa for around £1500, so won't be an expensive upgrade.

What do you reckon? Chap doesn't live that far away. Worth paying a visit?

why odd, its obvious its an import then.

read the questions at the bottom been in UK for a year.

Have you tried getting an insurance quote on an imported car? It can be tricky sometimes.

Just had a quick blast on a few online comparison sites.

Seems for the import quotes are around £1200 fully comp. Reckon I could get that down to around under a grand if I spent the day phoning around and going to insurers not included on the comparison sites.

Theres also a chap selling a 95 Reg Celica GT for around £2000. This is a UK spec car. Its also 170bhp, unlike the import which is around 112bhp (ST model). That ones done 80k miles but I'm tempted to go and see that one. Cheapest quote I got for that was £900. Again, Reckon I could get it cheaper if I shopped around.

I thought all jap import st202's are either 140 or 180 bhp, and only the uk models were 114 or 170 bhp:confused:

Not 100% sure to be honest.

Won't be getting either car now.

I have 1 month to go till my renewal date but Direct Line won't insure me for the Celica. I need to have held my license for a minimum of one year.

I was thinking of changing to a Focus or Mondeo (2.0) and they were fine with that.
