2007 Chinese GP - Race 16/17

and no time to hear from Massa
You can guess what he will say though.

"For sure I was quite quick, but for sure well done to Kimi, in difficult conditions. We will push in the final race in Brazil, for sure."

;);)

Oh well best be off to work in abit, still its been a good start to the day and with TG back should be a good end to the day lets just hope the middle working bit isnt crap. Its going to be a long 2 weeks, Brazil "should" favour the McLaren but Hamilton should have finnished the race so im not going to take anything for granted. Whats the maths for a LH title win?

Unlucky for Hamilton, just unlucky. Any driver could have been caught out on that pit lane entry with those tyres. I think if he didn't make that mistake then he would have won it.

At least he didn't throw a hissy fit like Alonso did yesterday.

Really pleased for Button, he really deserved that after all he's been through this season.

Can't believe they didn't call him in earlier, at least raikkonen beat alonso :p

Impressed with Vettel, to keep it on the road on the slicks when it was really quite slippery, also the wear on his front tyres (notably front left) was far less than most of the others who had worn away the white stripe,

Roll on brazil, hopefully Hamilton can manage it still :)

How quality is this result for the championship? Can't wait for Brazil now!! :D

Quite a good race today I thought, definately one of the top 3 of the season... Hmm, I believe my top 3 races have all had rain, coincidence?
Well done for Vettel and Toro Rosso tbh, after the awful luck last week they will have been given a nice healthy points boost.

As has already been said, Ralf Schumacher, lol.

Will Kimi show some emotions today and will Alonso be in a good mood :D

Oh look, a pig just flew over my house hehe. :p

At least Hamiltons still got a solid chance at the title in Brazil and he's already proven that he can take enormous mountains of pressure well. Although i must admit, if Hamilton does not win the title, i sure hope Raikonnen takes it instead. The last thing i want to see is Alonso winning it and claiming he 'deserves' it because hes already a champion etc... or because the team didn't give him number 1 status and preferred Hamilton so he was 'disadvantaged', even though over the course of most of the season, he's been outdriven or kept truly honest by Hamilton on the track where it matters.

James Allen said before the race that Formula 1 doesnt make character, it reveals it. Well Alonso's real character has been revealed this year, all because of being given equality instead of number 1 status imo i think hes bloody arrogant and full of himself. He whines and cries whenever Hamilton straight up beats him and he was bitching to the spanish media within weeks of the start of the season because he's not worshipped like a god at McLaren like he was at Renault or like MS was at Ferrari.

This was the first race in years i was rooting for the Ferrari's as i was praying for Massa to pass Alonso on the track after Lewis retired. Even as much as punting him off, i dont want Alonso to win the title THAT much.

As for the 'show appreciation and get called a fanboy and say otherwise and be called a troll' stuff. It doesn't really bother me to be honest. Other people on this forum can have whatever views about me they want. Although i'll happily admit, i am a bit of a Hamilton fanboy. And a Button fanboy. And a Coulthard fanboy. AND a Davidson fanboy, why? Because their BRITISH! It's about time we had a british driver at the head of the field battling for championships and had the sport crazy population of this country actually supporting them rather than slagging them off at every opportunity for farting and putting the driver behind off due to the smell.

McLaren have already admitted that they should have called him in a few laps earlier due to the tyre wear as Hamilton said that he couldn't see his rear tyres as the mirrors were fogged up, therefore couldnt see they were delaminating.

So it's the teams mistake he wasn't called in earlier but Lewis' fault for racing Kimi and slightly overcooking it on the pit entrance, but that could be from pulling in from right behind Trulli and still had his mind in 'race mode' and going too fast. It looks like he didn't take full consideration of his tyres condition into the cornering ability of the car in the narrow pit entrance. Only Hamilton truly knows why he ran off in the pit entrance, we can speculate and point fingers all we want.

I'm really looking forward to Brazil even more now. Even though it's going to be harder to have a British champion, we know for a fact that every driver is going to be going 'balls to the wall' banzai racing from start to finish, every single lap. That even includes the rest of the field because its so tight there too for constructors places. I think Massa is the only driver that isn't motivated in that way as he cant win the title and Ferrari already have the constructors, so he'll probably be the only driver in support mode on the grid.

I'm also hoping for a nice dry race or a consistant wet race, therefore its the drivers and cars that pull off the wins, not changable weather conditions that throws a spanner in everyones works where pitting a lap too soon or late loses you the race.

Thats my opinion.

Very happy to see JB and DC get some good finishes.

With regards to Hamilton, I personally can not blame him. He could have easily been a lot more conservative today and won the title, but what I like about him is that he has a never say die attitude. I'd rather see him win the title a race later fully committed (like a WC should imo), than rather just coast to an 'easy' title. Of course if things don't work out for him in Brazil, he is gonna regret China big time. But imho, I think it was the teams responsibility to bring LH in earlier considering how slow he was struggling with those tyres.

Also very happy for Vettel, not letting last weeks error get to him.

What I find disappointing on these forums is how people seem to jump on people like vultures, when all they're doing is supporting drivers who are doing remarkably well for their country (LH/JB/DC/AD). I also hope that JB and AD get a better car/team next year.

All things considered though, Brazil should be very exciting, can't wait for it :D

Whats the deal if Hamilton and Alonso finish with the same number of points after Brazil ?

The driver with the most race wins gets the title, so if Alonso ends up on equal points by winning in Brazil, he'll be champion. If they end up on equal points and equal wins (as they are at 4-4 now), then i'm not sure how they decide.

Believe it then goes to seconds/thirds/fourths.

It will depend on how they end up on the same points. Alonso is currently 4 ponts behind so:

Alonso 1st, Hamilton 3rd - Alonso Champion, 5 wins to 4
Alonso 2nd, Hamilton 5th - Hamilton Champion, I think due to 1 more 4th place
Alonso 3rd, Hamilton 6th - Hamilton Champion, 5 seconds to 4
As above for the other combinations

All of that of course assumes Kimi isn't in any of the points scoring positions. It's Sunday, I can't be expected to work those out too!

I slept in... i missed it, thats because i was up til 1 i knew i should have stayed up...

pffft, race classification then??

Hamilton done it??

Its all to close for comfort!! Its a shame about Hamilton, he was driving so well. On the upside it does make it even more exciting for the last race , which will be one of the closest in a long time.

Aye when was the last time it went down to the wire, let alone with 3 drivers in with a shout. should be interesting as Kimi is always fast in brazil. But Hamilton I'm sure will learn the circuit quickly and hopefully be able to finish it off, its all down to him now.
