Hi,

Just decided I want one of these.
Checked all the normal places online though & they're sold out everywhere.

Is this true or are they in real shops that have walls and windows and mavity and stuff?

I think they are available in some B&M stores, I think my local superdupermarket had them in the other day.

I work at a high street electrical retailer and we are more or less out of stock all of the time. we currently have 12 paid orders on and they will take around 2-3 weeks to arrive.

If we get lucky we sometimes get a batch on around 20 thats aren't already paid for.

If I wanted one for Christmas (my second, sold the last one), would I need to preorder again, d'ya think?

I would recommend a paid order, high chance it will arrive before christmas that way. Waiting for an available one that hasn't been reserver however I would say would have a slim chance.

Looks like the Wii is going to be in short supply again this Christmas, maybe another easy for for a few quid profit if you can get hold of them.

I can't believe they are still having stock problems with these, they're not exactly made of high end hard to source parts. The cynic in me thinks its designed to drive up hype and thus demand for Christmas.

That logic really doesn't work though. Hype up a product which you restrict still equals low sales.

No, the Wii is just out selling every other console in such amounts it is proving impossible to keep up with demand. Nintendo has released plenty of statements pointing out how many they are making and how much of a difficult task it is to keep supply levels so high.

Looks like mine will go on the bay in the run up to xmas.
Will buy a new one in the summer & make a tidy profit :)

Hmm, *looks at new 360 premiums selling for < £200* :D

If Nintendo genuinely can't meet demand after a year then they are very inefficient financially, unless of course as SiD suggests theres some other motives involved.

NO just look at the sales demand. The Wii is destroying the Xbox360 and PS3 in sales. (xbox has similar but has an entire years advanatge)

WHen a product is selling 3 times the PS3, it is no wonder that supply is hard to fullfil.
Besied which, they seem to be readilly available here.

PS3 is a significantly higher technology focused product though which costs considerably more so its a bit of an unfair comparision.

Nintendo have had high demand for over a year now so they should have invested the resources to meet this demand (as it has proved to be stable and long term). There is no component in a Wii that should take a long time to source. It seems to me at least that Nintendo don't want to meet the demand for whatever reason (and there are a few long term goals that will eventually go in Nintendo's favor by doing this). High demand, low supply means more sales in the longterm than if they saturate the market with the product now.

hmm,, just bought one for the family for Xmas, told my sister and parents that they are sold out everywhere and Santa is going to be working very hard to make more.. ;)

So, I got 2 controllers, mario party or something like that and wii sports..

Is there anything else worth getting for the Wii or should i just go for 360 games?
