Armed Assault on Vista x64

just bought Armed Assault and the addon Queens Gambit.

But it just doesnt loads.

Well tell a lie. I installed just the game Armed Assault and launched it. I get an Egg Timer on my cursor then... if i press SPACE bar it goes to the menu but i cant see anything and after 1 minute it says not responding and dies off.

Does this game work on Vista x64?

i've had it running on vista home prem 64, worked fine. but the game is buggy as hell anyway

textures never fully load. it's a common 8800 problem aparently

I have a 2900XT and it does the same. I get the egg timer and a load of grey and black boxes and nothing happens and I end up having to CTRL, ALT + DEL and ending the process looks like its a common problem on Vista x64 with 4 gigs of ram according to the ARMA forums. Vista isnt a supported o/s for the game anyway and theres no fix out so looks like were stuck with the problem

I get into the game but seconds after loading up the mission it crashes to the desktop with the message 'unable to create texture...something something..'

whats going on?

It doesnt need more than 2 gig, the game is just poorly coded.
The patches make it run far faster and smoother than pre patched but it very graphically intensive and can struggle on an 8800gtx at high (1600x1200) with full settings and over 50% viwing distance when there is a lot of buildings/tree's on screen.
Still very enjoyable if you get the balance right.

Make sure you have the 1.08 patch installed, this sorted out most problems.

If you have installed Queens gambit you have no need to patch as it will do it for you.

Its totally **** and given with all the patches they've released under the sun its still very bad, I would'nt TBH. I brought this game on release and still havent been able to play it yet. This is kind of game get PC gaming a bad name! :mad:

As said, the 1.08 patch makes it run far better and i believe its still a decent game and there certainly isnt anything around (in this catagory) that comes close, maybe the original Ghost Recon.

I tried installing Queens Gambit and still the same issue. I have to play it on my girlfriends 6800GT system with 2GB ram because of this issue with 4GB :mad:

Me too, I tried the patches, Ive tried reinstalling the game a couple of times, Ive tried everything I can think of but I still get the same problem.

I dont want to hate it, I just want to play the game, but it has so many problems, why on earth they didnt make the game able to run properly on Vista I dont know, It seems that you have to be running XP for it to work.

I love it. Even if it does have bugs and runs slow on my q6600 and 8800gtx. Its great with freetrack too.

Turn Gamma Correct and Transparancy AA off, ive found this makes a huge difference to performance and i dont notice a visual change.

Becuase of this post I decided to reinstall. patch 1.08 and its working fine on vista ultimate 64. Just had a go on the armoury thing thats quite fun.

Well worth the effort to get this going

Cant think why some of you are having bad frame rates in game with high speck gear, as it runs fine on my E6600 @3ghz with a 1900XT, this is with view distance set to 6000 and everything at very high detail levels, but no AA/AF 1680 X 1050

The best gameplay is online, look for the Evo servers
