Royal Mail Strike Action

I'm not sure what side to take with the strikes. It's hard to get public support when the strikes are disrupting the public's post. I know it's certainly irks me.

Yet I was speaking with my manager during a field visit on Friday, and he was telling me about some of his friends who are postmen. Apparently RM want fellow postmen to cover others rounds without getting paid extra in sight of absence of other colleagues?

I would truly like to show a tiny bit of sympathy for the workers who are suffering at the hands of RM, but I can't.
Strike after strike. And now a four day strike. Those ******* are taking the P.
Blackmailing the country is what it comes down to. I wouldn't be surprised to see another strike around the Christmas period.

My local sorting office was open yesterday so I was able to pick up my parcel, the guy inside was more then helpful - He wasn't on strike as he couldn't afford it.

Is Parcel Force affected by the strike?

Stelly

No. A lot of parcel force drivers are now owner drivers and the changes Royal Mail are making won't really affect them. Delivery offices are trying to cut down on postmen and main sorting offices want to cut down the hours as new machinery and collection times mean work may not arrive until 1-2 into a shift.

My local postie has no problem with hours cut at main sorting offices if there is no work. But in delivery offices this is never the case. Often posties start early to try to leave on time to start delivery.

So if something was posted saturday, I'm going to recieve it wednesday? Or thursaday?
