GF has her heart set on one of these, any known faults to look for? anyone know any for sale? lol general opinion on them?

Thanks, Russ

Not bad cars - the difference between the 1.6 and the 1.8 is greater than expected, the 1.8 is definitely the one to go for.

The SRI and SXI with their body kits are very popular and have held their value surprisingly well.

Some of them are a little sparse on kit though and they have the love/hate vauxhall indicators - cruise is optional not standard. Visibility is also fairly poor in the sport hatch, especially out the back and near the A pillars.

The Focus is still a better handler and has a better "feel" but the sports hatch looks better and has a better engine imo - overall not a huge amount in it.

we test drove a 1.6 sxi while ago and ive managed to twist her arm into a 1.8 sri as imo it looks better and will have the extra grunt to make the car that little bit more driveable. insurance is also cheaper for her on a 1.8 lol

know what you mean about rear visability, the astras always seem dark to me when inside.

That's not a Sportshatch

THAT'S a Sportshatch

Yum yum yum.

I wouldnt of thort theres much to go wrong with a N/A 1.8 petrol engine but try talking her into getting a 1.9 CDTI 150, been in one today they look great and the sound of the turbo wooshing noise is awesome

she cant really afford insurance on the 1.9 cdti 150 as shes only 21.

shes looking to buy something around 05-56 plate

It's ok to drive, bit more nippy with the sport mode on. Found it a bit sensitive to be honest.

Much prefered the seat leon FR's i drove,

Hehe :D

Tell her it's the best thing since a rampant rabbit !

The alloys are shiny, and it does look pretty good, she'll like that.

lol well she does like her "bunny" ;)

tbh the astra seems a decent choice for her. they seem comfy enough, enough poke for what she needs although they are a tad pricey still. Just trying to find out things to look out for when buying, like to be knowlegable on the car for some bargaining power.
