Im thinking of getting just a cheap tv tuner from overclockers but I want to know if they are worth it? Will I get a good signal and do I get all the channels (like ITV, BBC etc.) Hows the quality aswell?

Thanks,

You will if you live in a good reception area, can you receive free view through a set top box? You ideally need a rooftop aerial as well.

Got one here myself a Compro PCI twin tuner with Vista media centre and tbh I don’t use it much I use my main set top box to do all the recording etc,

Yea you get all the channels you would normally expect :)

yes you need to check your area to see if you can recive all freeview channels.
you will need a extra feed to your comp to connect the aerial to the card.
what is your post code mate and i will tell you if it is ok.

In most cases, the tuner card/dongle will give you more or less the same reception as your regular TV will pick up.....note that there are some tuners on the market with Diversity feature which allow combining of two tuners to give a better result.....

I have a Vaio XL-201 MCE machine, which I have updated slightly to include a total of 3 DVB-T capable tuners etc.......this serves as our main TV/DVR and is excellent.....never looked back, as this PC has replaced the hifi, DVD recorder, freeview box etc., and also gives you a full-on network media player and 'browsing-from-the-sofa' thing.....

I've been thinking about setting up freeview on my PC since I got Vista. Am I right in thinking I can just plug this (Hauppauge WinTV Nova-TD) into a spare USB port, and there's no need for an aerial and MCE will pick up all the channels?

No you still need an aerial, should come with a stick type one, tbh best bet is to use and rooftop aerial unless you live next do to the mast :p
