In a few months I am planning to work on a short animated story and im looking for some inspiration.

My main characters will be a little girl and her brother.

Im wondering if anyone can recommend any anime films with the main character is a little girl, one that springs to mind is Spirited Away, does anyone know of any others?

I will also looking for anime that have good scenes with horses, unicorns, flying horses or it dosnt have to be anime cg movies with the above would be cool.

A bit of a strange request, just want to watch some stuff for inspiration before I get started.

Most of the studio Ghibli films (especiall ones by Hayao Miyazaki) feature young female leads, Spirted Away, Howls Moving Castle (kinda), The Cat Returns, Princess Mononoke all spring to mind.

You'd be surprised just how many Anime films have young female protagonists.

Thanks ill check those ones out.

What was that anime called about the girl and boy, set in the World War i think. They're both dead and the story is about them and what their lives were like. I think. Is meant to be amazing.

I dont know the name of the film but I've heard its supposed to be fantastic, I'm sure its another Ghibli one.

Grave of the Fireflies, yup it's another Ghibli (originally released as a double feature with Totoro*).
It's pretty grim watching, I'm not spoiling anything when I say you know from the first scene that the main characters die, so every "happy" moment in the film has a very poignant edge.
I've had it sat on my shelf for over 3 years now and only watched it once.

As has already been mentioned, most of the Ghibli films have strong female leads, Kiki, Whisper of the heart, Naussica, Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke etc.

Cardcaptor Sakura is a (long) TV series with a strong female lead, although as Themagipirate says it's surprising just how many do have young female protagonists (other examples include Chance Pop Sessions, Princess Nine**, Fruits Basket, Nadia Secret of Blue Water, and those are just ones I can pick out from my collection).

*I still find it a very odd pairing.

**About an all girl baseball team.
