i think youll find i can do that now with my x1900xtx with games at max settings and not a fart of a stutter.So when i get the 8800GTX inside my pc itll play oblivion and bioshock at max settings with no stutter whatsoever and id bet money itll do the same for crysis and quake wars.
it should easilly lol.
My system is C2D 3.4Ghz, 2GB RAM 900mhz etc.
Tried running Doom 3 at maximum settings and it was completely unplayable. Runs nicely at all max other than AA at 4x and it plays well, though not perfectly. In some places the frame rates drop to below 30FPS.
Far Cry runs better (but doesn't look so good) maxed out but doesn't stay above 60FPS constantly.
Age of Empires III drops quite low when there is a big battle.
Etc...
It will suffer horribly with Crysis if played on maximum settings.

hmm, 1600 x1200 hdr 4xaa 8xaf and gets 76.9 fps at 1600 x 1200 so at 1280 x 1024 and same settings you ought to get around 100 fps and stay above 60 fps constantly.

fsaax8, 16xaf and at 1280 x 1024 it gets 144.5 fps - can't really see it ever dropping below 60

1280 x 1024 4xaa 16xaf gets average 174 fps. And yours drops below 30 fps in places?
Dude, you have one seriously ill system or your lying but not sure why you would.
The 8800 GTX owns doom 3 and fry cry at max details at 1280 x 1024. You could never prove otherwise.
Hell my athlon dual core with my 8800 GTS 320Mb gets better results than you.

You could be right, I just think that people aren't really running at maximum. That includes putting Image Settings to High Quality and AF to 16x.
I've just checked my old records and my x800xt pe was whopping your ass in doom 3 at 1280 x 1024.
Isn't this card 256MB, and therefore unable to play the game at max settings?
personally i am and im sure lots of other ppl are. But believe me mate your pc shouldnt be running like that.
Th xbits labs one does and it's 62 fps.

hmmm, too many months ago. My notes say everything at highest but that might have been the highest it allowed for my card with it's small memory as in top option on something like textures may have been shaded out.
But to do you a favour, i'll load it up on my current system tomorrow and bench it for you on my 8800 GTS 320Mb.
I aint had a chance to play on it yet as im dl sound drivers, but i cant waitTh xbits labs one does and it's 62 fps.

At the highest settings they used (though not maximum possible) for 1920x1200, they only got 25FPS minimum. That was in the link you posted from nvnews.
