Got my 24" Samsung SM245-B and I love it. I'd compare it to my previous screen except that was a 17" CRT. Can't believe how I managed on 1152x864 for so long. 1920x1200 rocks

Just posting to say it's lovely. Didn't have a single dead pixel, not noticed any of this ghosting or stuff that I hear people talk about but then again I wouldn't.

Congratulations, consider 24" samsungs also, but I wonder if 1920 x 1200
will be equally fine feed by VGA as with DVI ,. (have only VGA cards now)

I use two monitors and, 2 x 4 ch KVM switch,. so I am afraid that I would
need both new grapic cards,... and some new very expensive DVI-KVM´s

Can you post some photos of viewing angles? and also comment on colour clarity ? I am considering a 24" to upgrade my 2007WFP over but the 24£ Dell HC has ghosting issues which means I will no longer be looking at a Dell 24" screen anymore!

I'm thinking about this monitor too. Looks very nice. Dell is £100 more. Only 25% more but that is still a lot of money.

Descision time is soon..

The Dell offers the non HC as well, and dont forget theres the benQ around the same price around the web.

The samsungs still no doubt an excellent deal/ but just giving other options since u dont need to go for the HC dell....

the samsung has 3x the contrast ratio compared to the dell (3000:1 instead of 1000:1), but the dell has the advantges of things like HDCP support, 50cd/m2 more brightness, multiple inputs, usb hub, card reader and longer warrenty.

imo, im starting to like the dell more, and since my brother has the 30'' dell which he got here from OcUK which has no problems whatsoever except very mild ghosting which only happens in very limited circumstances, is yet another plus for me aiming towards dell.

that 3x the contrast though is based on a dynamic contrast ratio, and not static. Actually testing the screen the calibrated useable contrast ratio is more like 750:1 on the SM245B, but this is a bit better than the 545:1 on the 2407WFP-HC (the Samsung offers a superior black depth to the Dell). The SM245B also offers HDCP support over DVI too :)

Yep. I must admit, once you factor that USB Hub - very useful, card reader (which I need to buy), more inputs (I need two at least), then, yes, the DELL does look a good deal.

The card reader on the Dell is actually a negative to me. I've already got endless card readers (built into printers and separate). I really like Dell monitors with the USB hub, allows keyboard/mouse to plug in nicely, but I don't want yet another card-reader adding drives to me PC.

disable the card readers under device manager and they wont show in the my computer screen.

also the dell monitor only has 1 upstream usb port, which im guessing means 1 input device only, so not possible to use both keyboard and mouse attached to it.

the 1 upstream port connects the monitor to your PC, allowing you to then use all the other features on the montior itself (there's 4 usb ports and the card reader)

oh, it said 1 upstream 4 downstream so i assumed it ment that 1 port for input devices, like a keybaord, and 4 output devices for things like an mp3 player.
