Digital vs Analogue TV?

seen many people get chufft over digital freeview tv but everytime i see it all i can see is massive pixellation on high motion scenes. anyone else notice the same?

ill stick to analog tv thanks. :)
 
Depends on your antenna.

Ours sucks donkey bits, but the mother in law's is great, she had a decent freeview box off me, thinking it was goosed...

As we live in a block of Council Flat's there's nothing we can do, apparently the antenna has already been "upgraded"... from what, dog excrement to 1/2" tinplate?

Strangely though, analogue is *perfect* on all 5 channels.
 
the freeview box my bro has shows signal strength to be 51% and varies on some channels down to 48%

is that whats causing the pixellation?
 
pretty much.

Unless we get good signal strength (80%+ on ITV2 or Virgin) it's like looking at a 320x240 vid on 1600x1200.... BBC1 and 2 won't even show anything (indicated 40-45%)
 
Yeah, notice how they aren't informing people that if they want to watch a digital channel and record something else they'll need either a DVB TV and a box or a DVB box with twin tuners.
 
without my signal booster I get 45-50% signal and some of the most horrendous pixelation (especially on any CH4 channel).. but turning my booster on I get 80-90% signal and it looks as clear as analogue then!..

To record DVB just get a DVD recorder with a DVB tuner in!.. thats where most if not all of em are going now anyway!..

Isn't that rather obvious. The only reason your VCR could record a different channel with analogue was because both the TV and the VCR contained tuners.
 
Ive got freeview built into my tv but it doesnt pick up any channels. Acording to the freeview site i should be able to get atleast some. Would getting a freeview box help? or do i need to look at the antenna etc?
 
It all depends on the quality of the signal, I have digital TV thru the cable and it is VERY good, the difference between digital cable and analog cable is massive.

What I do when I record is set the digital box to the channel I want to record and watch the other program anolog, it is annoying but not really that big a problem.
 
i've got freeview/digital tv with my samsung tv and everytime a moped drives past my house it breakes up until its drove off :/ random
 
My old ONdigital box was terrible but I've now got 3 digital tuners in the house and they're fantastic. I get a much better picture on digital, especially BBC1.
 
Mine's not bad at the moment, but I sometimes get pixelation and I can't pick up all the channels.

Having my ariel upgraded whis weekend and I'm hoping to see a massive improvement.

Good freeview > Good analogue
Bad freeview < Bad analogue
 
Can't pick up freeview here yet - we're slated to get it rolled out 2009.

So it's going to be a case of turning digital on, and turning analogue off straight after.

Ah well, not the end of the world! *Pats Sky+ box* :D
 
I still don't know what digital TV looks like as I've never seen it.

Our local transmission antennea still hasn't been upgraded (in a city of over 100,000)

So their target of 2009 is unlikely I think (as most people around here don't even have a freeview box or TV)

I live just outside Oxford, but I can't get BBC1/2 or channel 5 on Digital, but analogue looks way better..

This is on a R88 Samsung 32" with in built digital
