My phone is broken, replacement on o2 via insurance

Iv got an N95 which has broke, the OS is just so mangled that it keeps opening and closing applications at a million times per second, iv tried a factory re-set, but it is totally knackered.

Because I unlocked it and updated the firmware it has invalidated the warrenty, and tbh i cant be bothered to wait 2 weeks and have it repaired under warrenty.

I do however have gold insurance, if i "lose" the phone, will they require a crime ID? or will i have to "break" the phone and pay £25 returning the handset to O2

The insurance covers you against theft and damage. You have to prove one or the other to be able to make a claim. Last time I checked you have to pay a £25 surcharge on any claim.

Obviously with damage you have the phone as proof, where as when it is stolen you have to have one of those crime numbers to prove it was actually nicked.

I can't condone fraud though. If you have a genuine issue with the phone they may well still swap it under insurance anyway.

At least now you're aware of the facts.

it is a genuine issue, its been a long time coming and my phone is barely usable, but as said before i cannot afford to be without my phone for 2 weeks to be repaired under warrenty.

Making a fraudulent claim because you cannot be without your phone is slightly different to a genuine issue. Borrow or buy a phone to use in the interim?
