Hehe, only joking.

Does anyone know the actual release date for this though ? i was lead to believe it was sometime in October. Im quite looking forward to the changes it might make to vista.

Q: When will Microsoft release Vista SP1?

A: A very private beta of SP1 is already underway. The company says that it will ship a public beta by the end of 2007, and Microsoft says it will publicly ship the service pack in the first quarter of 2008, alongside Windows Server 2008 (as they told me they would do in 2006).

I think service pack one will create world peace, end hunger and allow us all to be immortal. Then again it may just contain all the updates from release to now and a few hotfixes you have to request to download.

you're from haverfordwest mate, i can only assume the worst :p

use all the windows update patches, there's 5 of them that really improve things

Does everyone think when SP1 is released that its going to be a magical cure for everything ?
Its only a collection of all the updates that have been released so far rolled up into one single pack isnt it?
Technically we are already all running SP1 as it is?

There must be a few new additions, otherwise they wouldn't be doing such extensive beta testing.

What a medical cure for people that cant configure an operating system correctly? :p

Personally i think Microsoft will be releasing a few other bits along with Service Pack 1 which i am looking forward to, weather it is just updates it will still be very handy.

Yer, its been a long time in the making now. I just hope they dont whack a charge on it or something !

Microsoft have NEVER charged for a Service Pack - unlike some of the updates Apple have released in the past which have been nothing more than Service Revisions yet expect the public to pay for them.
SP1 for Vista like all other SP's will be free.

I have the SP1 beta but after about 1 1/4 hours of installation time and multiple reboots I entered windows to see a message that said "SP1 Installation Failed".

derned betas
