Hi the body shop who reapaired my focus claim its been resprayed at least once and there even saying twice.

They had some kind of digital gauge witch measures thickness of paint. He told my Fords are never above 100 on the digital readout. He took me to a X reg non metalic fiesta and it was 70-90 all over. He tryed again on a new Audi A3 (dunno if it was metalic), that was about 120-150 all over.

When he put the gauge on my car it was between 220-260 all over. he told me no way ford put paint on that thick and its deffinatly been resprayed.

My car has metalic paint so would that explain the thickness??
Ive allready been round to the previous owners house to ask him but he wasnt answering the door :( gonna try agian soon as im really curious.

Bonnet, boot, doors, rear quarter, roof every panal on the car really.

all the readings wear above 200 on the car, they didnt do inside the doors

Could be anything, might have been vandalised (paint stripper or something) or could have just come out of the factory not quite right, and needed re-spraying :)

Hope thats just the case, im gonna go back to the previous owners house (only lives 5 mins away) and make a fool of myself probably.

If your car has been resprayed its been done **** your old paint should be rubed off and it all be sanded down. That sounds like a real ****respray if ut has been surprised u havent noticed already

I'd remove that swearing if i were you :)

Just got back from the guys house. top bloke he was, seemed really confused at first, he said he wasnt aware of any crash damage and the only thing hes ever done is replace the plastic on the mirror was i knew about.

If it has been resprayed then it certainly aint a **** job, ive had the car since july and never noticed a spec or mark out of place.

I can't see what you hoped to achieve by visiting him. Do you think someone who knew about it but didn't mention it before would have told you the truth if they had something to hide? If it is a good job (and it certainly sounds like it is) he would have used it as a selling point if anything.

PS. you might want to edit your sweary too (all has to be starred out, even the first letter) ;)

I've seen brand new cars get painted before they go out!

Why are you bothered if it doesn't look bad?

People would be horriefied if they knew the % of cars that have had paintwork done on brand new cars, its happend to me twice, but likes been mentioned before service history is the important bit, if its had paintwork done to it and at a good standard then great saves you having to do it :)
