Half Life 2: Orange Box

agh, i really cant decide whether or not to get this on PC or 360, swaying towards 360 as i havent upgraded my PC for 18 months and wouldnt want to be let down by less than average performance...

I think the MP aspect on this over Live has potential to be incredible.

It's region-free (That's right a EA published game on the 360 is region-free ) so can be had for £24 from a site that I'm not allowed to mention.

Never played any of this half life 2 stuff. Only played Counterstrike for about a year casually (around 1.5-1.6). Will I enjoy this? From what I understand it is a bunch of PC mouse and keyboard based games. Will this be any good with a 360/PS3 controller? I know HL2 is not a Q3/UT speed game, but no idea about the other games you get in this bundle.

(I guess I have an extra monthish to decide, as I will prob wait for the PS3 version).

If you havent played Half Life 2, then buy this. Simple as that. As you say its not a hugely paced game, and Im assuming youve managed with other FPS games on the 360 so why would this be any different?

I will get this at some point, far too many games around at the moment to make mw buy it now though.

Oh FFS, I thought this was going to be out closer to Xmas. Bit of a pain, I won't be getting this for a while, me thinks. I was hoping to have a blast on Team Fortress for a couple of weeks before returning to Halo. But currently I am not ready to stop playing halo, so it looks like by the time I get round to buying this game Everyone will have moved on to the "next big thing" and I will miss out on the team fortress shenanigans.

Oh well.

I think this game would be value game of the year lol (if there was one) One of the best games ever HL2, HL2 episode 2 is nearly as good so i have heard. Team fortress 2 is supposed to be one of the best multiplayer games around for a long time and Portal which is great fun if a bit short. All this for the price of a normal game, I think its a fantastic package, be interesting what the PS3 version will be like as its being done by a separate developer.

Has it got the full 1000 achievement points for each game i wonder?

Is a bargain, shame im in London at the mo and cant play anything!

I personally am going to stick with my pc version as TF2 will be no good on a controller unless they allow binding, i dont fancy trying to rj with a controller. I see no reason as to why hl2, ep 1+2 won't be highly playable on the controller though.

They will have to have a good auto-aim on the consoles. I was giving HL2 a whirl yesterday on the PC and picking off the combine from a distance with the pistol was somewhat tricky with the old mouse. Took a bit of pixel perfect precision.

There are some puzzles in Portal that will be extremely hard due to the analog sticks. I just did a puzzle that required extremely fast aiming and coordination. I don't think Valve anticipated this.

I don't know how much "harder" it will be comparing the 360controller with a pinpoint precision mouse but playing Halo with sniper Rifles isn't all that hard...

Aye. One of my main gripes with HL2 was that it's far too easy and the combine are simpletons. Playing with a pad will be no problem and I doubt it will be for tf2, which is also a slow game that focusses on spam far more than accuracy. My only concerns are with portal - which looks quite twitchy on the harder levels.

There are just some sections in which the volume of enemies may be an issue imo. I think I'm just so used to twitching around on my keyboard that I can't imagine it on a pad. But I'm very interested to see what happens with it. :)
Is HLDM2 included on 360?
