New Radiohead album

Just finished listening to it for the first time.

It's gripped me on the first listen much more than Kid A, Amnesiac and Hail To The Thief did on the first listen - and i still haven't really got into them fully either, even now!

I'm not sure if there will be any "hits" from this album (given what's in the charts nowadays) but there are some good tracks that will make am appearance in a list of the top Radiohead songs I think.

Listening now, its a more basic Radiohead sound isnt it, quite 'dreamy' and Thoms voice is really to the fore. Liking it so far.

got my email at 07.31 this morning & downloaded it on my mobile as my internet connection was down!!!

Had a listen on the way to work & very impressed, but then again I am a Radiohead nut.

Standout tracks for me are Nude, 15 Step, Arpeggi, and I 'got' reckoner on 3rd listen - its beautiful (Sounds a little like it was sung in a church or by Monks!). The album is growing on me. I agree with ConfusedTA, I cant find any 'hits' on there, but as an album it certainly works. Anyone else just think 'U2' when they listen to House Cards!? (For me its the blandest on the record, not much of a melody but the effects in the background redeem it somewhat)

Well I'm listening through a second time now.

First off - the production is actually unbelievable. Even at 160kbps, I'm listening through studio monitors and it's mindblowing. On first listen, I'm very impressed.

As soon as the crunching beats from 15 Step started I knew this was gonna be something special. What follows is 40 odd minutes of beautiful, beautiful music. Some moments really give you goosebumps. Radiohead's most euphoric album.

I found it funny how people thought Reckoner was gonna be that "heavy" song they did in like 2000, and it turned out to be completely different. Faust Arp is a very nice suprise - great vocals and orchestra.

I can't pick a favourite. 15 step slams so hard, Bodysnatchers rocks so much, Nude so beautiful... Argh, it's all great. My biggest suprise though - Videotape. I was expecting an epic closer but we have a much more stripped down version. It'll take some accustoming to, but it's still great, especially in terms of production.

Time to listen a few more times. :)

Argh, just need to add, the slightly detuned bass in All I Need is so addictive! There's a lot of things like that really enhance one's listening desires :)

After one listen it seems a pretty good album :) Arpeggi sounds lovely, and they've done some great stuff with Nude. Now need to listen more :D
