In-genious I thought, although im not reallly a fan of the Clubman, I think that looks really good for some reason..

You'd have to be a real die hard mini fan-boy to describe the new Clubman as "cool"

I personally hate the thing, I can't see what sector it's aimed it, it'll be mega expensive, not overly quick and looks stupid.

Thats not a real clubman, and if they are calling it that i will be quite upset. It resembles a mini van more or even a traveller.
A clubman looks like this:

Different front end only.
A traveller looks like this:

A normal mini with a boot.
Meh germans, not a clue

I can't see the reasoning behind it being called a Clubman, because the original Mini Clubman had a square front and 'normal' Mini rear whereas this is the other way round.

Calling the new door the club-door always reminds me of some sort of deformity like a club-foot.

The 'reasoning' was to do with the licencing of the name and nothing else as far as I am aware

Tiss yet another travasty that BMW is visiting on the mini brand, that 'estate' is not a clubman! I'm sure it's just BMW trying to make up for the ludicrously tiny rear leg room in the new mini and failing if you ask me.

When will they realise the mini is supposed to be a cheap fun/practical car not an overpriced style over substance blob.

I think that most people now realise that the MINI is a nod in the direction of the original Mini and not supposed to be anything apart from a car that appeals to a certain sector of the market. If the MINI was a reincarnation of the Mini then it would be the price of a VW Fox and have pretty much the same extras, as it is its in a different market.

You are right though it has sod all leg room, especially if your sat behind me, I'm 6'2"
