15 Things You Didn't Know About TF2

Only one I didn't know was "The Pyro's flame range is halved while he's running forward, since it travels at twice his running speed."

I don't know how that works though, all I know is it does more damage point blank than not :p

Some of the things on that list are pretty illogical and counter-intuitive - like rockets doing less damage at range (it's still the same payload isnt it?) and a dispenser healing an engineer who is drowning, but I guess it's designed to be simplistic in nature.

I'm assuming they reduced the rocket damage to avoid soldiers spamming the doorways of the enemy base, eg on 2Fort, stating the obvious i know. If we need a physical explanation for this incredibly unrealistic, pixar-like game, lets just say the fuel used to propel the rocket counts towards the payload, so after a longer distance, less fuel = less boom.

Well demomen handle the spam thing just fine all on their own. The main bonus of the 'weaker with range' thing for rockets goes to engineers and their turrets.
