The Eye of Judgement

It certainly won't become anywhere near as popular as any of the 'big' TCGs (i.e. VS, WoW, Magic, Yu Gi-Oh or Pokemon(which incidentally, isn't very popular anymore)).

A lot of the hardcore card players will not be able to justify spending 300 quid on a system to play a card game on, when they could spend that 300 on cards :p. The social aspect is also gone, as the majority of gaming venues cannot justify providing PS3s for customers to use, as opposed to welll.... tables!

Myself, I'm stuck. I tend to spend on average about 100 a month on cards as it is, but with the initial set being about 120 cards it shouldn't be too difficult to amass a full set of them all. I'll be picking it up on release regardless...

It would become a *hell* of a lot more popular if it was playable without a PS3, but that would contradict the point, and even then it would have to be a *very* good game to compete with the current market leaders.
 
I'll probably be getting it for two reasons

1. I have never played any of these card games before and they do look really interesting.
2. I love the online aspect of it, being able to play that kind of game with people from off here without having to leave the house sounds awesome.

Also Apopcalyptic - I *Think* you can play just the card game without a PS3.

Time will tell. Dave who runs Fanboy3 in Newton Street (in Manchester) saw it running at Gencon. He's undecided whether he's going to stock it yet as he believes it's PS3 only. I'll badger him for info on Wednesday :p (Oh, and if you fancy giving a card game a go, I'm in there most Wednesday evenings)
 
Plus isn't the camera for use with PS3 video conferencing? It's not just restricted for this game only, is it?

Going OT, what card games do you play?

I mean I know absolutely *Nothing* about them, but like I say they do look fascinating...

Its the new eye toy, i think about the same time as release there are going to be some eye toy games available on PSN I also think it comes with with a few other eye toy type things.

I play Vs System, which is based mainly on Marvel and DC comic characters. It's *very* strategic, and I have to say I'm not very good at it :p

In the past, I've played Magic : The Gathering, which is the market leader (and has been for nearly 15 years), and various games which have disappeared in nothingness :p

See i'm worried that the EoJ just isn't going to catch on, and i'll have spent £60 on something that I can only play against the PS3, I really want this to play against others...

Well, like I say, if it's something you think you may be interested in, I'm local to you, AND the Fanboy3 lot are a good bunch if you fancy coming down!
 
I might have to do that sometime mate, they do look interesting though you saying you spend £100 a month on card games is scary lol!

Hmm I've preordered this for £32.99?

Unless the price changes then I think the camera alone is worth my £33 :)

seems you will be able to use the new playstation eye as a sort of handfree microphone as well, in game (and obviously for online video chat without having a headset on as well).

I wanna know where everyone is pre-ordering theirs as I haven;t seen it anywhere.

All the big online retailers are stocking it at 59.99, cant seem to find it anywhere cheaper than that though...
