Hey Guys

I've posted a few times in the past about HD-DVD playback problems on my PC with powerDVD but this one i just can't sort

since gettin my new PC, HD-DVD's have been playing fine using the xbox 360 HD-DVD drive, powerDVD 7, anyDVD enabled and my PC connected via an X1950pro (HDCP enabled) to my projector via a DVI cable.

The problem now is, i've got a new projector that doesnt have a DVI input (Optoma/Themescene HD70 DLP), but instead a HDMI input. Easy fix using a DVI to HDMI converter.

I can extend my windows desktop to the projector fine, play normal dvd's fine and other video files ok on the pj. When I try to play HD-DVD's i get audio and SOME video. Basically the video will constantly flicker between the actual video and a black screen really badly

I've updated powerDVD with a couple of patches around, one makes things worse (it add's a nice green bar to the top of the vid window) and the other doesnt seem to do anythin??

Could this be a codec problem, or HDCP problem or something?? unfortuntily I dont have any other HDCP enabled devices to test with and have done a few total clean reinstalls of powerDVD, video driver and even a clean install of windows

Just dont know now???

when i switch a bluray on my PS3, the TV negotiates the HDCP with the bluray, and it goes fuzzy for a few seconds

then plays normal

as far as im aware HDCP is either on or off, not constantly flickering. id suspect something else. Is your PC up to the HD decoding ? ive read horror stories about how much CPU you need to do it.

yeah, spec is plenty fast enough for decoding HD-DVD's. quad, 2gb mem, x1950pro

HD-DVD's used to play fine on them right up until i got a new pj with a HDMI on it instead of DVI

Not quite sure what the problem could be though :(

Reinstall powerdvd and maybe get ffdshow as it usually sorts codec problems out.

hey, thanks for the reply

I have reinstalled powerDVD numerous times with and without the available patches. I've even ran codec sniper to delete anythin to do with cyberlink after a removal of powerDVD

I did have ffdshow installed but removed it incase it was that conflicting with powerDVD, but it actually seemed to make things a bit better with it removed? lol
