Hey all can anyone please tell me the main differences between Abit IP35 Vs Abit IP35 Pro?
Is the pro version worth £40 more?
My system will be:
Q6600 G0
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2 PC2-6400C4
8800 GTX

Do the clock the same? Would I be shooting myself in the foot by not taking the Pro version??

wow is that the only difference?!
I don't need firewire at all!
And the non-pro I take it is still silent cooling? So basically its just £40 for slightly more metal on a heatsink??!! Which would imply slightly better overclocks?

Pro gives you extra:

2x eXternal SATA
1 extra PCiE 16 slot (x4 bandwidth)
external CMOS switch
Dual Gigabit Ethernet
Officially supports 1066 memory
uGuru tech
Better chipste cooling (or more copper bits at least!)

If you don't need any of that then they should overclock similarly. Maybe the memory might be limitation, but as Intel doesn't need the memory to run in synch with the system bus to get good performance you will probably be ok.

ah found my anwser

"uGuru is a proprietary hardware monitoring (and supposedly diagnostic) tool with limited distribution and use"

IP35 has firewire too.

Atm it's hard to justify the price difference for the Pro over the standard although it does have some nice touches.

I have the IP35 and after getting to grips with the Bios (was an Asus user before!) its not been bad.
I cant get any more out of my CPU than my old 975x chipset, but thats partly due to the E6600 B2 and the grafix.
I have an odd thing that if I push it past 430 FSB the grafix will not boot properly. Fan spins up and it wont settle (should I up the MCH volts more?)

Other than that I am well happy and waiting for a CPU upgrade next year!

The CMOS reset is an arse as its under the PCIe slot, and if you have another card fitted will need to use a pair of long nose pliers to get in and out of there! But thats the only real hassle.

With the current batch of dual and quad core chips I would not hesitate recommending this mobo.

The Abit IP35-E which you can get for 60 quid got me Q6600 to 4ghz for a 1mb super pi...and the Geil ultra pc6400 and OCUK pc8500 both work fine in it.
