what to get? dell 2407wfp or 2407wfp-hc

That's what I've fouind I can't see any ghosting issues on my 2407WFP-HC but plenty of people seem to mention it

The issue will always be hit and miss, and I dont like chancing things. Even in Baddass HC review he said he didnt really see it much and not as sever as the utube/google vids on the net.

But I do know it will cause my head to explode if I see it some of those vids are pretty clear.

Anyhow with the soon release of the new Dell 24inch E248WFP model hopefully its 5ms and new screen is better.... maybe HC owners will be able to get the fixed/new screen if they request and want it.

you can see it, but it's not quite as severe it seems on some screens....certainly some of the exterme youtube examples are very worrying, but those aren't common.

Baddass,

Do you have any info on the HP W2408, as it is available for £329 in the UK, and it is a really nice looking monitor(but TN panel)

Ty for any info

Troop.
.

hi mate. note seen any reviews or anything really. It's obviously TN Film based, but does have an extended gamut (92% NTSC), glossy panel coating (as with a lot of the HP range), a good range of ergonomic adjustments, HDCP over DVI, and is a decent price. My comments regarding viewing angles on the Samsung 245B will still stand probably, but for a cost effective 24" screen, it looks good

This is what I dont get so many say they see no ghosting issues what so ever especially with general use and the odd gaming..

Have u played any games or seen anything weird like ghosting?

Seems one half see the fault the other well not really.

My heads gonna explode quite literally deciding... but I guess if I do get a pretty bad one ill try to get the next dell fixed model or 2407 non hc, but I hear they dont do non hcs anymore...its a risky risk !

I use my 2407-HC for gaming on the PC and 360 and its absolutely fine. Like I've posted before, I have seen those video's and tried to copy the scenario and I don't get that ghosting. For me, its a great monitor. Plug the 360 in using VGA and the PC using DVI and then just switch between the two as needed.

I don't know if maybe this fault is caused by a certain setup of the monitor or if its not affecting them all but all I can say is, its not an issue on the one I have. I won't be looking to trade it in under warranty if the chance arises. Totally happy with it.

If u set your wallpaper to say grey ? and then move your white cursor over it u guys should see it then......

Either that or its the Americans that have it badly...

Please check for me cos ive still got my finger hovering over the HC order button, cheers ;)

Have u seen the new ghosting video link I posted above? did u notice anything on that level... I mean the guys doing it on grey but also on just random colours its pretty bad....

That black trails is exactly the same as my Sharp 42" XD1! In HL2 side step and you get 1-2cm trails, noticeable on the chairs in the beginning of the game.

i have had the dell 2407wfp non hc for a day now. I was using an Apple Cinema Display before this and sorry to say it was far superior. The colours on the Apple Screen seem better. The dell screen seems to bright for a desktop monitor. But on the plus my ps3 is hooked up.

Can I second that request? I'm also following this thread with interest, since I might be swinging back to the Dell's also, and I think I'm going to be suffering from HighlandeR's exploding head problem soon...! :D

Put me in the queue for an exploding head also!

the easiest way to replicate it is a white cursor on a dark grey background...i captured a video in my review too, dunno if you saw it:

http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/dell_2407wfp-hc.htm

but it does vary a bit from one screen to another, but you can certainly see it in the right circumstances from what i've witnessed

Ahh dang wish Drukk and Shamus were about to test that, looks like 3 of us are waiting for there words of wisdom either that or we gonna have 3 of these

Yeah ive seen it and frankly I dont mind too much and will never really use a grey background I have always used a black desktop colour since its easy on my eyes ;) but that new Dell HC Video I posted here: http://myspacetv.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=19875668 This guys ghosting issues seems far worser, seems focused even on any colours not just grey, so was just trying to work out how sever it is.
