Well recently my parents was in a car accident (no injuries) Just the car ended up being written off. It was an old small Rover of some sorts can't really remember much about it but it only netted about £600 so..

Spec me a car for about £1000 maximum

Has to be:

*Cheap to run
*Small
*Reliable
*Not 'too' old (The rover was a P-reg so preferbally newer)

Its mainly going to be used for travelling to work and back and travelling to their relatives.

Thanks :)

What sort of car do they want? It makes a difference in that price.

For example: that's an average condition ~S Reg Punto (HG done), or an excellent condition ~S Reg Tempra.

Rovers tend to have lowish values for there age so they won't be looking at a much newer car. Also unless your very lucky insurance pay out are usualy stingey.

Smallish for £1k I'd be looking at Nissan Micras and Almeras. Unless you're obsessed (to an unhealthy degree) with having the newest car possible don't go near the Perodua. Citroen Xsaras (like a 306 but cheaper and more boring) are also good value, avoid Saxos becuase the chav factor pushes up prices (and increases the risk of it getting nicked). Chystler Neons are very temptingly priced but the parts are expensive (BMW prices), also the engine doesn't have much go for a 2 litre (despite drinking like one).

Don't discount late Escorts, but they must be cheap.
