Picasso Or Zafira

ive driven one of these a few times b rilliant cars, although its fugly

With a bloody tiny boot! so;

Mutipla = Fail - Boot Size / Ugly
Zafiria = Fail - Middle Seat
Mondeo = Fail - Middle Seat
Spacewagon = Fail - Either LHD or 50++ miles away

So left with (£5k budget)

Old Galaxy / Toureg - Older, Low MPG, Long (wife issue) - Y Plate
Picasco - Curved boot so not that big up top, Okayish MPG - 03 Plate
Trajet - Needs to be an 04 (£7k) for middle 3 point belt, Low MPG
Privia - Still £7k+ for a 2000 model

A small suggestion,

But you could change your kid seats to ones that may co-exist in a normal sized rear? spending £200 on 3 seats sounds a bit better then having to buy a Minibus..

I'd suggest something like the M&P range with the seat bases, you just leave the plastic bases in the rear (all 3 easily fit in the smaller MPV range) and you can belt the kids in outside the car, and just lift them in, being a simple click fit, it may make life easier?

What age are the kids? or what stage car seats are they in?

Co exist?

They are in the sort where you belt them into the seat which is belted to the car seat 24/7;

Think its called group 1. They are 2 years old next weekend and weight 2 st 5 (15kg) and 2 st 9 (16.7kg) and so they cant go into booster seats also all car seats I have tried for their size are 42-50cms

Ah, ok, the stage 1 seats are bulky.. I see you only mention 2 twins, what's the 3rd addition?

I can see your predicament,

Short of a much wider/larger MPV, you could

1. Look for a car with a front passenger airbag that can be disabled, and sit the missus with the 2 kids in the rear..

2. Put up one of the rear seats in a Zafira, put one of the older kids in that, and put the baby seat/other kid on the middle row, this still leaves a fair amount of boot space, the Flex 7 gives you quite a few ways of rearranging to get more/less space..

Haivng three abreast is going to make getting them in/out a bit of a PITA, lifting a kid out of his massively bolstered seat whilst leaning over another one is a bit of a back killer!..
Rearranging the seats to give easier access may prove easier.. just another avenue to explore?

Except for any journey more than 5 minutes not going to cut it, as our shoulder width is going to be the same as a car seat

Then we have issues with the buggies and shopping as the double is massive and the boys would be eating the shopping

Except the boys will climb into the seats so all you have to do is plug them in

TBH i did think of putting new one in the front of our vectra which has fairly large rear seat and I cant even fit my ribs between the seats never mind arms

We've got 2 picasso's in the family since new and the 02 plate 2.0HDI SX has now done 85k and nothing has gone wrong apart from consumables, the 55 1.6HDI exclusive has done 20k and the electric folding mirrors have packed up. That's it.

Picasso diesels are good. Petrol's are bad. The difference really is 45-50mpg and 30-35 and the petrols feel underpowered compared to the diesel with all its torque.

They do tend to rattle a little and the rear seats are not comfortable as an adult for longer journeys... they don't handle well, but the ride is good - which is more important in this kind of car.

A Y reg galaxy is a better bet imo though, despite being bigger, i'd rate the handling as better than a picasso and they feel a lot more solid. Reasonable-average reliability though, our V reg 1.9TDI did 110k in 4 years and the water pump blew aswell as the coolant pipe splitting, and the glass in the wing mirror fell out about 10 times!

You've not really done a very good job of convincing us of the virtues of growing up there, MrLOL :p Girlfriend + hobbies sounds more tempting ;)

lol

on paper i bet he doesnt sound amazing. but it is. Being a father really is amazing. It brings a whole new perspective to your life

The best part apart having a child young, is your relationship with them. How many here have had to explain to their un knowledgable parents what a text message is ? as you grow older, you grow more out of touch with your children. I wont because i'll still only be 30 when he's 10 and wanting playstations etc.. Not that he'll be a wanting a playstation 4 or whatever, because i'll already have got one ;)

i really cant understand why people would want kids.

Go to work knackered due to said child screeming all night, be skint due to spending every last penny on the little sod, have no time to your self, everything you do you "have to think of the children"

it also means spending more on a house and still having no room, unless you earn mega money your forced to drive round in some over hyped van with windows because your curtain twitching neighbours in suburbia would frown upon you if you didnt do as they do.

hmmmm cant wait get the gf up with duff. sounds like a win win situation to me.

edit - also if i wanted to scoop "excrememnt" up, id ask to be transfered on to team "f.i.d.o" at work...something to do with feasis disposal

all of the above symptoms describe the first year at most. By 2 they're potty trained and dont keep you up all night. its not as big a deal as people make out. Yes i dont go racing round on my own anymore. but i actually enjoy spending time with my family. its no hardship.

know this has gone completely off topic but i still fail to see the kiddy attraction, i like my cars but thats not the main thing for me. if im in honest i prefere just being able to do things, anything...whatever it is...whenever i want. kids take away all freedom...if i decide to go for a swift pint with the gf or a mate...i can. People with kids however cant. Just a bad idea all round imo lol

As much as I'm "anti MPV", with such a narrow-minded view on life I'm glad that you think children are a bad idea, as you REALLY shouldn't be allowed to have any, EVER.

Perhaps some people grow up beyond the mentality of wanting to nip off for a pint every evening on a whim. Perhaps people WANT to raise a family, perhaps people LIKE children, and WANT a child to share happy memories with...

Would you be able to go for this "swift pint" if your parents had decided "stuff having children"
